Metropolis Hotel

It was a good location, with a great staff. The decor was great. I loved the TV.

We just spent three nights at the Metropolis. I had read some "not so great" reviews but since we had already booked it, we went anyway. We had no regrets at all. "Funky" is a good way to describe it.

The personnel were helpful and gracious. Our room, although small, was adequate for our needs. I had read bad things about the area but we didn't find any problems. Car parking is expensive, but then, it is all over SF. It's close to Union Square shopping and walking distance to Chinatown. We taxied to the Wharf and back (cheaper than parking again). The rooms were inexpensive but worth more, in my opinion. We loved the place and would go back in a heartbeat.

The Metropolis is in a great location close to shopping and Union Square. It has great decor, and the rooms are a good size by San Francisco standards. My advice: Spring for the executive floor. It's only like $20 more than a standard room and is bigger and many have balconies or jet tubs!
