The Suite Life! – Posted Nov 09, 2009

female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

What’s the best kept secret at the Mendocino Hotel and Garden Suites? Shhhhhh! I’ve never told you but… the garden suites are a true hidden gem! Located directly behind the historic inn in a beautifully maintained garden, these large, well appointed suites offer the space and serenity discerning travelers crave. Our suite, #321 in the Denslow House, featured a sunny window seat, large private balcony, marble fireplace, and a walk in closet! It you fear the historic Victorian rooms might be too small to meet your needs, do take an airy suite in the gardens where sun beams, bird song, and scents of herbs and roses will soon soothe away your every care!

After an idyllic day of walking the headlands and exploring the shops, my husband and I attended the Navarro Wine Dinner. The highlight of the meal was the spectacular butter poached lobster, smoked risotto, bouillabaisse paired with Chardonnay Premier, Reserve, Navarro, 2007. How relaxing it was to stroll back through the garden to our suite after a perfect meal, light the fire, and linger on the balcony for a bit listening to the sounds of the surf! We highly recommend a weekend at the Mendocino Hotel.

I ate lunch at the Mendocino Hotel today, I had the Pasta of the day which was beef, grilled onions, mushrooms, and some kind of red wine sauce. It was the best I've had in a long time...I will definately be back

We stayed at a Cottage next to the beach in Mendocino. This place has everything a person from the silicon valley looks for. A place to unwind, relax and get back to nature. I think the property is 3 acres, all private, amazing furniture and right next to the village of Mendocino. It's a bit pricey, but worth every penny.

The Mendocino Hotel is splendidly Victorian in decor, and the recent restoration has been amazing!

They re-did all the rooms in late 2006; with brand new beds, bedding, carpet, drapes, etc., it is very lovely.

The staff and service were patient and efficient. The restaurant food was wonderful, as well as the room service.

I had a blast!
