Location. With its Victorian antiques and décor, the Mendocino Hotel harkens back to late 19th century California, a charming getaway located in the coastal town of Mendocino, Calif. This country lodge offers sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and is nearby several state parks and local wineries, including the Mendocino Wine Company across the street. Other attractions in the area are the Railroad Gulch Museum and Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens both within eight miles of the hotel. Tour companies in Mendocino Village offer horseback rides on the beach and excursions to see the giant redwood forests. Built in 1878, the hotel is listed on the National Trust Historic Hotels of America. Hotel Features. The Mendocino Hotel has three on-site dining options, one of which includes the award-winning Victorian Room Restaurant open in the evenings. The hotel café serves breakfast and lunch. There's also a hotel lounge that features a carved antique bar offer a bistro-style menu. Guestrooms. The hotel retains its period feel through its Victorian-style guestrooms. One-half of the 51 guestrooms feature fireplaces, antique décor and balconies with ocean views. European-styled rooms feature bathrobes, in-room basins and shared bathrooms across the hallway. Other in-room amenities include cable television, high-speed Internet, coffeemakers, and complimentary newspaper. Pets are welcome in select rooms for a fee. Expert Tip. Since in the 1900s, guests have been grabbing their smelling salts over what have been claimed to be ghosts hanging out in antique mirrors and bellied up at the hotel bar. The hotel's ghostly appeal made it the site for the 2006 California Ghost Hunter Conference.

What’s the best kept secret at the Mendocino Hotel and Garden Suites? Shhhhhh! I’ve never told you but… the garden suites are a true hidden gem! Located directly behind the historic inn in a beautifully maintained garden, these large, well appointed suites offer the space and serenity discerning travelers crave. Our suite, #321 in the Denslow House, featured a sunny window seat, large private balcony, marble fireplace, and a walk in closet! It you fear the historic Victorian rooms might be too small to meet your needs, do take an airy suite in the gardens where sun beams, bird song, and scents of herbs and roses will soon soothe away your every care!
After an idyllic day of walking the headlands and exploring the shops, my husband and I attended the Navarro Wine Dinner. The highlight of the meal was the spectacular butter poached lobster, smoked risotto, bouillabaisse paired with Chardonnay Premier, Reserve, Navarro, 2007. How relaxing it was to stroll back through the garden to our suite after a perfect meal, light the fire, and linger on the balcony for a bit listening to the sounds of the surf! We highly recommend a weekend at the Mendocino Hotel.
I ate lunch at the Mendocino Hotel today, I had the Pasta of the day which was beef, grilled onions, mushrooms, and some kind of red wine sauce. It was the best I've had in a long time...I will definately be back

The location of the Mendocino Hotel is just perfect, with a view of the ocean and within easy walking distance of all the shops in town. The bar does a steady local business -- always a good sign -- and it serves fun casual food. The wine list is gr

The location.Room wasway beyond small. We decided to stay another night but they could not put us in the same room, so they put us in a much smaller room with no view and felt is was not worth the price.

We stayed at a Cottage next to the beach in Mendocino. This place has everything a person from the silicon valley looks for. A place to unwind, relax and get back to nature. I think the property is 3 acres, all private, amazing furniture and right next to the village of Mendocino. It's a bit pricey, but worth every penny.
