45 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Bad things about this hotel:

1. The first room we got smelled like raw sewage.

2. Ceiling in the hallway had missing tiles, and drips

3. restaurant and bar does not really exist as their description says. supposedly they are closed for renovation. I think its a permanant situation.

4. elevator sounds unsafe

5. pop machines on each floor only take coins 6. carpet and fixtures old

7. this was weird: The trashcans were from Holiday Inn, the handsoap was from Best Western, and the shampoo was from Clarion.

8. no tissues/kleenex in the bathroom

9. toilet was clogged 2 days, and had to use public bathroom on the ground floor.

10. no fan in the bathroom

11. lightswitch right inside door did not work.

Good.

1. close to a Waffle House

2. TV worked

3. Air worked

I am not likely to return to the Memphis Plaza.
I would not recommend it to friends.

48 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

On a trip across the country, I made the mistake of staying here. I chose the Memphis Plaza only because I found a discount coupon in a discount hotel magazine and it was on my way. The morning after my stay, it took me over 30 minutes to check out because there was no one at the front desk. Then when I went to my car I discovered it had been broken into. Someone took all my electronics among other items. When the police arrived, the officer told me that they come to this hotel every morning due to a car being broken into. I also discovered that they had taken one of my credit cards and charged over $800 at local convenience stores during the night. After returning home, I called the Memphis Plaza to ask the person at the front desk if they ever have a problem with auto break-ins. They assured me this was a very safe place and they have never had a problem.

I would have rated this hotel a "0" but it was not a choice.

The location for the hotel was ok, easy to find, but being on the backside of the hotel, the interstate travel kept me up. There was no really choice of restaurants around the hotel. It would have been nice to know where things were in relationship to the

I am very likely to return to the Memphis Plaza.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

The location, the comfort and the price were good. The staff did not attempt to help me retrieve items inadvertently left behind. They did not offer to compensate me.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Memphis Plaza.
I might recommend it to friends.

35 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

I was returning to Memphis for a high school reunion last summer and I chose this hotel off the internet because it was close to my old neighbor and I THOUGHT I was familiar with the area. The reservation was booked through Orbitz and when I got there to check in they didn't have it. The desk clerk was very rude to me and my sister. It took nearly 25 minutes of her grumbling and giving us dirty looks while she attempted to figure out what to do. I finally asked her if she had a room with 2 beds available and she sniped at me YES. So the whole check in process should have been an indication of what the rest of the stay would be like. I could not believe how dirty and run down the entire place was and it smelled of pool chlorine. The air conditioner barely blew any cool air and the room was so hot I went out and bought a fan to keep us cool. The icing on the cake was awakening the next morning after a miserable nights sleep to discover a large insect bite on my leg. I began to feel ill later in the day and had to cancel the afternoon activities I had planned. Once I got home the bite festered up and I went to the doctor who informed me I had been bitten by a brown recluse spider. So to this day I have a lovely reminder of my trip in the form of a scar on my upper thigh. Stay at your own risk and take disenfectant and insect spray.
