We stayed for 3 days, got there on a Sunday . The cabin was musty smelling and needed to be aired out. then Sunday night, we found out there was no hot water in our cabin . and the manager I guess had no idea . Manager said " The propane company was supposed to come on Tuesday. *wait 3 days for a shower? not. so the manager called the propane people, And we were told they would come on Monday. No show. So the manager offered another room, a motel, or we could use the shower, which we accepted. Man is it cold at night up there, especially after a shower.
next the bathroom in our cabin ... the heater is rusted,, works, but rusted. the wall paper is peeling and the toilet seat is cracked. bottom of the shower stall had mold and looks like it was not used, And from what i could tell from the check in, we only got this cabin as a default even though we booked it by phone the week before . So she had some shuffling to do. She said they only have a few cabins that worked . also heard this place has changed hands several times too. so not what it used to be. we kept our cabin and walked down for a shower. THE Lake did not have any fish in it that we could see. Had ducks. The scenery was wonderful. changing leaves and the lady we met was very understanding and as helpful as she could be . She works a hard job. The tavern is the main focus there now . All the other buildings on the property are abandoned. and a lot of the cabins are not being used due to one problem or another, plumbing, or electric, sewage etc. some of the other buildings have broken windows, gift shop. i had no idea they had a restaurant and banquet hall until we stumbled upon it walking around the property. MUST HAVE been something when it was open. And when first driving up to the property it feels like a ghost town. the registration building is closed due to the fact they don't want to heat it . THERE is nothing else out there accept the cabins and motels, some of which are in poor shape and need to be updated . Maybe it is the time of year but the attitude we got was one of a nonchalant by one of the property owners was not big deal.
We rented a cabin in the woods with a fireplace and this was not a 1 day overnight stay . pros The check in manager did give us a refund for ones night stay and the fireplace was nice, the room was warm and kept clean thanks to lori. but for the fall not a good idea to rent a cabin unless you want to work to enjoy your stay. I won't recommend it . And if you try to call. they wont call you back for days as they have to see what cabins are available and not taken up by friends of the owners. i keep seeing budget in the last two reviews even on a budget if this is budget you might just get your money 's worth... ps They are not renting out during the week anymore only during the weekends. book number 20 has a fresh propane tank.
