The top negative of any hotel is lack of soundproofing which is exactly what the Melia had to offer. They stuck us in a tiny room, which I didn't mind as we are New Yorkers, LOL! This room was so small that the space from the end of the bed to the wall had no room for my luggage! That is typical in London and wasn't the major problem. The major problem was that this room used to be an ajoining room and we could hear every word from our neighbors, as if they were in the same room. The day they left, they made a racket from 3 am until departure, over an hour of laughing and talking loudly, to which I politely yelled, SHUT UP! LOL!

They had the best buffet breakfast I've ever had anywhere in the world! The decor, ambiance and food were all exquisite!! Dining here is open to all, so you don't have to stay in the hotel to enjoy the buffet. Another problem we encountered was no ice machines!!! We aked for 2 glasses of ice as advised by the desk and the bartender would not give us 2 glasses of ice to take back to the room. He nastily informed us that we had to order a bucket of ice for the room. Yeeeeeeeesssh!! LOL! Also, all of the elevators have one central monitor which advises what elevator is next. Kind of confusing until you get used to it. The lobby shop had great souvenirs and the man in the shop was extremely nice! There is a convenience store right across the street and an Underground station too.
