Modern facility, ideally located in the southwest area of the Grand Canyon Village, just a short walk to the canyon. Summer activities: hiking. The budget-minded traveling family might find the Maswik Lodge the perfect choice for their Grand Canyon stay. Located a quarter of a mile from the south rim, it features a two-storied motel and separate cabins. Each room has a shower and telephone. All rooms at the lodge are motel-style rooms with two queen beds, a full bath, telephone, and television. Room sizes vary somewhat between the north and south sections of the lodge. North section rooms are a little more spacious than those in the south section. Cabin rooms have a shower bath, television and telephone. The cafeteria, which features a wide array of ethnic foods, is open from 6a to 9p daily. The lodge is named for a Hopi Kachina, who legend says guards the Grand Canyon. 40 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
Room felt small and crowded, not very appealing, no a.c., but had a couple of room fans. Room heated up pretty quick and didn't cool down much. Carpet by the bathroom was wet when we checked in. Has separate bathroom and wash basin. Great location though, only a short walk to the canyon rim, has gift shop and cafeteria, including free wifi connection in the registration area (most people seems to be able to connect even in the cafeteria). Plenty of parking, park shuttle bus stops right in front of registration, runs until late at night so it was convenient. Other hotels in the park cost a little more, but also seems better, may try those next time.

The convenience of the Maswik Lodge can hardly be disputed, it's only a short ten minute walk or less to the South Rim of the Canyon. But other than that, there is absolutely no reason to stay at this lodge.
The rooms are very tiny and poorly lit, perhaps to hide the old and worn linen that rests on the beds. The plumbing in the bathroom was in great need of repair and the water seemed to run continually. The A/C, although not needed for cooling but rather to drown out the noise from upstairs, consists of a small desk fan bolted to the ceiling! The lobby is nice, the cafeteria is okay but the rooms really lack.

I enjoyed my stay at the Maswik Lodge. The staff was helpful and pleasurable at all hours of the day or night. I really enjoyed my room. Since this stay was during late fall and rather cold, the room temperature was always comfortable. I liked being
Maswik Lodge is one of many lodges on the rim of the Grand Canyon. Van Kemps is a near-by souvenir shop. Shuttles carry guests around the canyon. At 70 degrees, it was a beautiful spring day. We looked one mile down at the Colorado River and enjoyed the eagles and ravens nesting on the rim.
