We had room 31C (Dolores Hope room). We loved the picture window view of the bay. Although the room was quiet and beautiful, it was a long walk(2 miles each way) to our favorite restaurants!
Room was $285 a night (not including tax) for two ...

This was a horrible inn! We were in town for a long weekend to attend a wedding. The first night, we went out and returned only to find that when we tried to get into our room the key didn't work. It was 12:30 a.m. and we were locked out! We called the emergency number listed on the office door. When the manager (or whoever he was) showed up 20+ minutes later, he was really annoyed. No apology that we had been inconvenienced because we were given the wrong key. In the process we realized that the lock was now broken. He said he would fix it in the morning. That never happened.
Additionally, the bathrooms were dirty. We were there for three days and the same opened bar of soap and dirty towel remained in the shared bathroom. And, the front desk help was completely unhelpful. We were looking for a local street for the wedding reception and the woman at the desk barely got off the phone to acknowledge our existence and responded, "I don't know." No attempt to make a call to someone who might know or find a map! It turned out that the street we were looking for was a main road leading to the local monument. If we wouldn't have been tied by a two-night pre-paid minimum I would have left after night #1, no question. I would not recommend the Masthead nor return. Too bad, I hear from the locals that in its day it was the place to stay. If it is under new management they need to wake up.

The hotel clerk made a mistake with our reservations. We were to come in on Thursday and leave Sunday. Unfortunately, the woman who took our reservation, who is now no longer with them, had us checking out on Saturday morning. Who comes in on...
