Marriott's Timber Lodge at Lake Tahoe Resort

From the street as you drive by this place looks great, but it's down hill from there. You have to valet your car at $17 a day, this is a pain if you want to come and go at will. The rooms are okay, I stayed in a full kitchen villa with jaquzzi tub & fireplace. It was alright, but the 10 minute hike down boring hotel hallways took any fun out of it. The staff was friendly, but having to attend a 90 minute brain-washing sales pitch is insulting in today's marketplace. If I want to buy into this timeshare, just be upfront with the prices and have someone to answer any questions. Forcing me to attend seems cheap. If your product is that good, people will search it out.

The absolute best thing about this hotel is the location. It is very close to the best shopping in Tahoe, and it's close to the two main casinos. The room however was little to be desired. Check in is not until 4pm, which is fairly late in my opinion, and it was really difficult to get an earlier check-in time. The rooms are very small and oddly shapen; slightly claustrophobic to me!! There was only a small window, whereas Harvey's and Harrah's have huge windows, which is important because the view is so beautiful and the air is so fresh! The drapes were not big enough for the window so the sun shone through first thing in the morning! Not fun after a late night of concerts and gambling! Note that there is a parking fee of $17 a day, and our room taxes totaled over $40 for just one night! There is a small fridge, microwave, and a few dishes, which is a nice ammenity. The bathroom was average, with an average tub. They also have free laundry machines (on each floor I believe), however, our room's location was a good 10-12 minute walk just to get to it! The only reason we stayed here was because it was a concert weekend and the casino rooms were $450 each. We saved a small amount of money, but sacrificed other things. I did notice a nice children's area (possibly childcare as well), which helped to make it family friendly.

I expected adequate room service, but I ended up with the tub not being cleaned, the carpet not being vacuumed and more. It was a disappointment for I am a long time, loyal Marriott customer.

It's a wonderful place to stay. The staff is very professional and courteous.

This hotel made me feel inspired: It had a wonderful view with the smell of pine in the air. I loved the fireplace every night.
