Marriott's BeachPlace Towers Resort

We travelled a long way to get to this reort( from the UK) and it was worth every mile.I really don't know what other reviwers are complaining about.This resort is a little old fashioned but is being upraded as of now. We had a fabulous time there and would return in a heartbeat. About the only holiday that I didn't want to come home from.

Probably one of the most ill-conceived Marriotts ever.

Putting a resort above a parking garage and an open air

3-story mall was not a good plan. The Marriott Corp has

zero control over either entity below them, and thus guests

have to deal with the overpriced ($14-$22/day) parking fees,

the incredibly tight and difficult to navigate driving course up

into the garage to Marriott's 4th parking level, as well

as the blairing rock music till 2am from the bars and mall below the ocean-side rooms.

Even the timeshare owners at this location were notified (by the resort) to not stay there until late

2008 due the ongoing noise from the heavy construction taking place

across the street, as well the still pending refurbishment of all the

units to replace the aging furniture, kitchens, and electronics.

Views are great and the units are good size. Avoid the Timeshare hucksters in the lobby though, as well as the outrageously priced "convenience" items in the Marketplace.

It seem to be a nightmare from the minute we checked in. Check in time 4:00 we did not get into our room untill 6:30. No A/C in elevators, or halls. A/C was not working in our room for two nights. We also lost electricity in our bedroom two night's in a row. Refrig. broke down in the middle of the night called for service, and no one showed up for about 3 hrs. Lost alot of food including baby formula. Could not get certain drinks at pool bar, ran out of mixes for three days. Had to go to fitness room to get bath, and pool towels called for them the first day, and after that would only get a machine. Asked to see manager more then once, but he never had the time to see us, ran into him in the elevator. Would have like to speak to him, but told us he had to go and closed the doors on us. We were there for 8 days 7 night, and beleive me this was not all that went wrong.
