Absolutely beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. We (husband, and our two children) stayed here for 1 week. We were in a 2-Bedroom villa. We had a master suite with bath in addition to our own bath with a stand-up shower. The living room has a...

traveled to Palm Desert for the first time last week and was pleasantly surprised with this resort. It was immaculate, and was very well landscaped. All of the timeshares either face a lake or golfcourse. The rooms are very nice and offer a lot of...

The hotel has a great golfing location. We had an extra large one or two bedroom time share units. The Marriott hotel is first class all the way.
I am very likely to return to the Marriott's Shadow Ridge.

As a vacation club, the experience is different from a hotel. The rooms are much larger than a typical hotel room, and the quality of the furnishings about the same. However, there is no maid service included. Typically guests like us stay a week (this time, however, we're staying four days). Kitchen and washer/dryer are in the master rooms. The grounds are a beautiful resort, with the landscaping very high quality and carefully maintained. The view of the desert mountains is great.
Staff are generally quite good, polite and accommodating.
The pools are large, although there are lots of people; this is one of the main attractions here.
You'll really like this place if you have kids who love pools; if you don't mind driving to restaurants and other attractions; if you like the beauty of the mountain desert; if you like condo experiences (and their cost savings) as opposed to hotel experiences.

Reading some of the reviews on Shadow Ridge, I guess that we must have been staying at a different resort for the last 5 years in a row. I'm really sorry for the "coastal" person who was dragged here. People who don't want to be in the desert shouldn't be here. Some folks don't seem to understand that this isn't a hotel - they usually will tell you upfront that the cleaning service only comes once a week unless you request otherwise. We've had a few glitches over the years, but we've had these in more expensive hotels also. As for being pressured to take the time share tours, we can attest that Marriott is far and away the least high pressure of any time share presentation we've ever been on - but maybe some people don't want to be bothered at all. For us, we're just disappointed we can only do this once every two years. We spend an hour with them - tell them no thanks - and get $100 - what a deal!
This is one of my favorite golf courses to play in the country and I can't wait to go back. They usually give you a resort map at check in and it's easy to find your way around here. If people can't locate the gym, they could always call the desk. Also, the current bar/restaurant on site is an upgrade from the previous setup.
Because Marriott is family oriented, you'll always find some children here. They are supposed to have an adults only pool - just ask. We have always found the staff here to be very accomodating.
It's too bad that White Trash only had a bad experience. However, their main problem seems to be that they didn't call maintenance to fix the appliances. As to their problems at the pool, obnoxious people and their kids are everywhere and they've kidding themselves if they think otherwise.
We highly recommend this resort to others. You just need to be clear on your expectations going in.

My husband & I love Marriott's. So when we got an offer for a timeshare tour & a decent price for the room, we thought what the heck. I have never before been disappointed in a Marriott.
The room we had was a studio. It was MUCH smaller then a normal hotel room. The main pool is beautiful but full of kids. Well that is to be expected. So we went to the smaller pool on the other side of the resort. One day this one had a family with 2 obnoxious kids that they refused to control. One of the kids even threw-up in the pool. The next day there were a bunch of loud teenagers.
