It was AWESOME ! ! – Posted May 16, 2009

Excellent
36 year old with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We had such a great time. We have 2 children ages 7 &3 and they just loved the beach and pool, and we aren't beach people. The weather was sensational. We came and went with no problems as far as the parking or wait time for the elevator. We went May 8-16th,maybe it wasn't peak season, although it was quite busy with tourist. I highly recommend it if you want to just relax. Lee from White Plains,N.Y

Live music at beach place – Posted Jul 30, 2008

Excellent

We had the opportunity to hear some really great blues at the Beach Place Court Yard. "unstrung", with Michael Spoor, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida...what a great show. His music will be remembered. I truly believe his life was lived to the...

Aging facility, and tough neighborhood – Posted Jul 21, 2008

Okay

We stayed for a week in July of 2008. Once you are in the hotel you forget quickly the outdoor mall, complete with street pan handlers and pushy cart vendors you had to wade through. The problem is every time you leave the hotel you have to walk...

Rooms were big with balcony, front desk – Posted Jun 11, 2008

Excellent

Rooms were big with balcony, front desk staff very attentive and right across from the beach. Just not that the beach chairs on the beach cost $10 each, but hotel does provide beach towels.

64 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We travelled a long way to get to this reort( from the UK) and it was worth every mile.I really don't know what other reviwers are complaining about. This resort is a little old fashioned but is being upraded as of now. We had a fabulous time there and would return in a heartbeat. About the only holiday that I didn't want to come home from.

The public spaces in the hotel were OK – Posted May 22, 2008

Okay

The public spaces in the hotel were OK but the room fell far short of what I expect of a Marriott, more of an Econolodge level of quality and service. I understand that the hotel is under renovation so I'll give them a break on the scuffed-up walls ...

The elevators were so slow! It took up – Posted May 08, 2008

Horrible

The elevators were so slow! It took up to 20 minutes to access the elevator and then it was crammed full, mostly of the hotel staff. I once had to wait for 4 stops before there was room in the elevator. The staff rushed in before guests, then...

Great location, but hard to find from – Posted Jan 21, 2008

Okay

Great location, but hard to find from the street. I was lost for a short while. There was plenty of dining options thanks to the outdoor mall. Rooms were a little out dated. Everything even internet access was an additional cost.

Perfect for families – Posted Jan 20, 2008

Excellent

Beach Place offered us 2 bedrooms with a full kitchen

where the fabrics and furnishings were beautiful. Our

villa on a high floor had an awesome view of the

waterway along with 2 large balconies. The beach

is steps away and ...

Ill conceived – Posted Dec 15, 2007

Mediocre
56 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Probably one of the most ill-conceived Marriotts ever.

Putting a resort above a parking garage and an open air

3-story mall was not a good plan. The Marriott Corp has

zero control over either entity below them, and thus guests

have to deal with the overpriced ($14-$22/day) parking fees,

the incredibly tight and difficult to navigate driving course up

into the garage to Marriott's 4th parking level, as well

as the blairing rock music till 2am from the bars and mall below the ocean-side rooms.

Even the timeshare owners at this location were notified (by the resort) to not stay there until late

2008 due the ongoing noise from the heavy construction taking place

across the street, as well the still pending refurbishment of all the

units to replace the aging furniture, kitchens, and electronics.

Views are great and the units are good size. Avoid the Timeshare hucksters in the lobby though, as well as the outrageously priced "convenience" items in the Marketplace.
