I grew up in Carmel and recently returned for a wedding. Not having any family left in the area I needed to find a hotel. The Mariposa is PERFECTLY located. It's right off of the freeway, across the street from the mall (with lots of restaurants, a movie theater, shopping and a gorgeous Whole Foods) and is just 5 minutes from about anywhere you want to go. Downtown Carmel, 5 minutes, Aquarium/Cannery Row, 5 minutes, Pebble Beach's 17 mile drive, 5 minutes. It was awesome. The room had a great bed with crisp, clean linens, a microwave and refrigerator (perfect for leftovers.) We had a fireplace which was really nice too. I could go on and on... We'll definitely return to the Mariposa on any future trips to the Monterey Bay.

I stayed at the Mariposa in January. Rooms are funky and nicely appointed and they even have I-Pod docks! The location is also good, if you don't need to be downtown you can save some $$$ here. I would return.
The hotel has been renovated and the room decor is very warm and comfortable. They added flat panel TV's and we really liked having the IPOD docking station as it comes in handy when traveling to charge up our Ipods. It was nice surprise to find com

Very Nice hotel located in Central Monterey across from Del Monte Shopping Center. Newly remodeled rooms with Jacuzzi tub a plus. Very courteous and friendly staff. Definitely recommend. Clean and economical.
