My daughter and I stayed at this

Excellent
My daughter and I stayed at this facility on January 16, 2009 because we were attending a volleyball tournament in Oakland the next day. My first concern was our safety since there had been demonstrations in Oakland earlier that week. We were...
38 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
I picked this hotel because it was close to The Paramount Theatre where I was seeing a show. Such a cute hotel, right next to the Oakland Yacht Club. I felt very safe there and after driving passed the Days Inn about a mile up the road I was even more satisfied with my choice. And at $65+tax for one night, I don't think I could be more pleased...

Okay
Check in late w/ the grouchy woman running the counter. Spare blanket in closet appeared to have been used and tossed onto the shelf. One of the towels had a black smudge on it, like it had been used to wipe a shoe. A/C unit was ancient, barely able ...

Mediocre
The toilet backed up right away, but the maintenance man came quickly to fix that. Besides that the staff was very friendly, the view is awesome. The pool has a marina view. They must of put some money into this place as it looks updated. They...

I liked it so much I extended my stay there. The staff was very nice and the little town atmosphere out side of Oakland was very nice. The room was small but you can tell that they put money back into the hotel to make the room nice and clean. I...

The location and the people make this

Okay
The location and the people make this motel a good choice if you have business in and around the Alameda Marina. The rooms are tidy, the people are friendly, and the continental breakfast is pleasant enough. It is a motel, make no mistake.
I have stayed at this property many times over the past 2 years and had family/friends stay there as well when they came to visit. Never again.
U was a bit taken aback by the 2x the room rate they wanted to charge as a deposit on my credit card. They used to take cash and hold it until they checked us out in the morning, then return it.
Well, I was told at one point that was still OK, then two hours later I was informed that it was not acceptable. After I was told the room was paid for and not to worry, just come back with your cash, and we will check you in.
I had ordered the room through Expedia who were so wonderful through the ordeal that ensued. I became a bit unnerved with the 30 minute run around that they gave Expedia about not being able to release the funds, or provide proof that I was not staying in the hotel, only a manager can make that call. Of course, there was no manager on duty until 7 am. He tells me he is calling the cops. I went ahead and called them first because this was out of hand, the Alameda police have always been so good to me.
Stay away from this mess. I wouldnt stay there again or ever recommend that hotel to friends or family. Good thing I'm moving.
