OK to stay but don't buy into timeshare – Posted May 20, 2008

Mediocre

Rooms are fine compared to most NY hotels with similar rates, but buying into the Manhattan Club as a timeshare is an outrageous ripoff. Our annual maintenance charge has gone from around $500 to more than $1,600 -- equal to about $230 a night -- in less than 10 years and was increased nearly 40% this year alone. So-called owners have no say in this; the charge is simply put on your credit card, and if you don't give them a card you cannot book rooms. And, by the way, you have to book more than six months in advance most times of the year.

Horrible
65 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

Staff was surly, elevators often broken, concierge useless. No attention to the little things.

Otherwise, it was great - of course I'm being facetious.

Manhattan Club is a Gem! – Posted Sep 04, 2007

Excellent
65 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

I have stayed at the Manhattan Club at least ten times and go back every chance I get. I am stunned at some of the negative reviews and truly wonder where these people are coming from. My room has always been immaculate with daily maid service. While the concierge seems to have an attitude, the front desk has always been most helpful. The location is the best of New York. Located between Broadway and Seventh Ave. on 56th St., one can walk to the many of the best attractions and restaurants in the city. True, the elevators are sometimes slow, but this facility is more than worth a five-minute wait for an elevator.

What a great time – Posted Jul 20, 2007

Excellent
43 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

We stayed here during june and july and can say was dubious following reading various reviews , however we loved it. The hotel staff yes were short with us however helpful to us , probably due to the nature of their job. I was waiting to book in and a "american lady "was complaining that her safe wasnt working and wanted IMMEDIATE action. Get a grip its a safe surely will wait 15 mins. The room was spacious and clean, yes following a comment the windows were slightly dirty however its Manhattan and 20 floors high cant be cleaned every day !!!!!!!

The place was central for everything and we hardly were in the room so not as important as if it was in the middle of nowhere.

The only people i saw complain were the americans maybe they have different standards to the british but i certainly wouldnt complain about ths place and the service.

The lifts yes could be delayed however they were no way as bad as people state also no air con in the business centre however does it matter unless you want to spend all your holiday on the internet.

The place was lovely and seem to be a victim of their own success and no doubt will get moans but doesnt everywhere. W have been all over the world as you can nick pick about everywhere

This is in the middle of mahattan what more could you ask for 2 streets from central park, broadway , 5 th Avenue and Time square and new yorkers are friendly no matter what people say you smile and talk to them they will be friendly back

I would recommend going there and to the manhattan club we waited 9 months and it was well worth the wait.

One thing I would say “Don’t believe everything you read”, take a risk and usually pays off .
