I've stayed at the Makai several times before and always loved it! Apparently when the previous owners left so did the quality of the hotel. I stayed one night a few weeks before I boarded for a cruise and it was DISGUSTING! It was filthy, filthy

Mediocre
We have stayed for over 20 years for summer vacation and Turkey Rod Run; however, there continues to be a mildew smell. The staff is friendly, but we did like it better when it was family owned. We arrived this week to find that there is an added...
We have stayed here several times. The building is very old, but we've always found it clean. The A/C is nice and cold - the view is fantastic! The pool/deck area is large and clean. They have a nice jacuzzi where you can sit and look out on the ...
27 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
Me and my family, have stayed at the Makai for well over 27 years. We so enjoyed the atmosphere when the Giovoni's owned it. Now it is under new corporate management, which makes it less family oriented. You would think that with a new company owning the Makai, as well as, 22 other motels that upgrades would be made. They haven't air conditioning doesn't work well. The carpet is extremely nasty, and no upgrades have been made. I will continue to go there out of tradition and the great price but I wish changes would be made.
I would like to tell all, this is THE BESTEST, FRIENDLIEST, place to stay, on Ormond Beach! My husband and I have been coming for 6 Years and it is an EXTENDED Family. The Staff, Lisa, Will, Jackie and Moe, and everyone one else are Awesome. The...
The Makia is old and could use some renovating but the price was just right for us. The room had fresh paint and carpet. Over all it was very clean if you can get past the out dated quality. Wonderful location, close to everything yet just far...
We used to stay here every year. Had not been there in 8 or 9 yrs. It was FILTHY! During a rain our room poured water in over airconditioner as well as all the other peoples rooms staying on the bottom floor of the lodge. Their was food in the...
