Makai Resort - Page 1

Me and my family, have stayed at the Makai for well over 27 years. We so enjoyed the atmosphere when the Giovoni's owned it. Now it is under new corporate management, which makes it less family oriented. You would think that with a new company owning the Makai, as well as, 22 other motels that upgrades would be made. They haven't air conditioning doesn't work well. The carpet is extremely nasty, and no upgrades have been made. I will continue to go there out of tradition and the great price but I wish changes would be made.

We stayed here because of the fact that we liked the old owners and even though it wasn't the most modern, the staff was really nice and it was clean and reasonable. That has changed with new poor management. They lost our reservations that were made a year in advance, then ended up trying to accomodate another family whose reservations were lost by moving us around and indicating we would have to move out of our lodge on our last night. When we refused they came looking for us on the beach and even sent the family down that was expecting our room to "take up with us". Where we come from, when you make a mistake you don't expect the customer to owe you anything - it is up to you to make it right. We weren't interested in free nights that were offered, just wanted the rooms we reserved and to be left alone.

It has an incredible view at a reasonable price. It's close enough to Daytona Beach that you are not too far from all the sights.
