Madras Hotel Ashoka is a house of horror. The management need to tearn what customer care means and need to be educated on nominal manners. We stayed as a family of 4 in December 2007. They advertise 24 hour check in and check out. This is only to their advantage. We stayed a couple of hours over one day and they charged for 2 days. Most hotels charge only part day. If you check out early you have no credit. We asked to see the manager who will not move from his chair. We had to catch a flight and so decided to pay and leave. Then to our horror we found they put some one else's huge restaurant bill on ours which we refused to pay and no apologies from them. They have absolutely appalling manners. Their charging policy is never explained to you when you check in but is only on the paper when you check out.

On our way to our room there was smell of urine everywhere. There is a sign post 'Do not tip' but in practice if you don't tip you don't get anything done.When in Chennai stay somewhere else. In theory you can complain to the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation but you will never hear from them. This hotel is not in any international standards. If you can afford a little bit more money look elsewhere to stay. You will do yourselves a favour.
