Actually I did "Succeed" in what I did. I put 110% of myself into that job and would drive 25 miles one way to get there. I was always the first one there and one of the last to leave. I did nothing but my best for the resort, and my supervisor loved me. The staff that has been at maddens for 20 years are not in the restaurant staff. Those people are all on the golf courses. If you go there, ask your server what they would rate their job and find out for yourself. Like I said, I set myself up to succeed at that job and I even studied menus and even alcohol information outside of work so I could better do my job. Maddens states that I did not "succeed" because when I complained about my my lack of hours, and the fact they promised me tips at the beginning of the season then gave me minimum wage and nothing else, they called me "ungrateful" and said I shouldn't work there anymore. A friend of mine who works there almost got fired the other day because they found out she was a friend of mine. Is that a good reason to fire people? By digging into their personal lives? No.
If you do decide to support such an unethical place, I ask that you have the decency to tip your server. Believe it or not "Gratuity" and tips are not the same thing. Maddens has an 80% turnover rate each summer for servers, meaning that Maddens will keep that gratuity from each server tax free. Makes sense why they don't give a darn about restaurant staff. They make money off that employee if they quit or are fired.
I worked at Maddens and had to quit because they were the most disorganized, uninformed, and unfair employers I have ever had. It is their goal to make things so horrible for you so you quit and they get the bonus money you earned. By the way they c
