Nice but WAY overpriced – Posted May 28, 2009

Mediocre

The service was excellent. The restaurant is great. Probably better to stay elsewhere. We stayed in the green room which is quite expensive and feels like it hasn't been redone in about 20 years. At over $350 a night, the bathroom should not have ol

Excellent

My boyfriend surprised me with a trip along the Mendocino coast. We stopped in a beautiful village called Mendocino. We pulled up to a victorian house surrounded by beautiful gardens. Upstairs we found the innkeeping office. The...

Horrible
77 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

We had stayed at the Maccalum house before, so we thought this trip would be good too. However, although we booked for a private hot tub room, we couldn't use the hot tub as it was so dirty, full of soap scum and made us slimy. I reported it right away and they said they would take care of the problem the next day. Well, the next day I tried again but it was still dirty, not as bad but unusable. My wife would not use it again and this kind of but a damper on the whole trip. At the price, $299.00 a night, the least we would expect was a clean tub. Although we don't watch much TV on trips, though they said they had a flat screen TV, it was just an old cathode ray TV. There was no reception either, only a lot of snow.

Needless to say, this is the last time we will stay here

We got a great rate on the room that we booked, although, we really had no clue what kind of a room we would get (and there does seem to be a large variety here). Our room was beautiful! High ceilings, beautifully decorated, spacious, and with our ...

Good

The atmosphere at dinner is very nice - dark, quiet, romantic. The food has a bit left to be desired - it's not great for the prices you pay.

Breakfasts at MacCallum house are much better than dinner - by far the best place in...

Romantic getaway in Mendocino – Posted Mar 31, 2006

Good
37 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

This is a friend's #1 getaway for a romantic weekend. (He's in this late 40's, professional, foodie).

It's actually his most favoriate building in Mendocino -- a wonderful gingerbread style, very Victorian.

Hotels usually don't have such wonderful restaurants, but the restaurant at the Mac is one of the two top restaurants in Mendocino.

(The Cafe Beaujolais is the other; he only slightly prefers the CB.)
