26 year old with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

My boyfriend and I decided, pretty last minute, to go out in London for a night so I found the London Bridge Hotel using one of the many London hotel websites out there. At £100 for the room for the night, the price wasn't too bad, especially considering it is a 4* hotel.

Upon arrival, staff were courteous and helpful, though I was a bit annoyed that we got two single beds rather than one double. When I rang reception to see whether this could be changed I was told they were fully booked. I was convinced my original booking had specified a double rather than a twin room, but not having the paperwork with me to check, I didn't want to cause a fuss and we kept the original room.

The rest of the room was perfectly formed though I must say rather small. There was a huge flatscreen TV, a kettle with coffee and tea making facilities and the ensuite bathroom was again, small but well presented. For one night's stay it was more than good enough, even if there was limited room to manoeuver.

The original plan was to grab a meal somewhere in London but we ended up arriving far later than expected, so we grabbed a bottle of wine at London Bridge station and headed to the hotel, where we ordered room service. This wasn't too over the top expensive; I had fish and chips which was much more glamorous than it sounds - pieces of battered cod with a lovely salad and nicely cooked chunky chips. My boyfriend just had a side order of chips, which was huge and again well cooked. I think all in all it came to about £25, though not entirely sure. The lady who brought in our room service was more than happy to open our bottle of wine for us, which I thought was quite good seeing as it wasn't bought at the hotel!

When we came back from the club at 5am, the concierge opened the door within five minutes. We didn't end up staying for the free complimentary breakfast though I am sure it would have been of excellent quality.

Overall, our stay was pleasant enough, seeing as we were only staying the one night. If I was staying longer I would have wanted a bigger double (rather than twin) room, but otherwise the amenities and everything were in perfect order.
