My husband had read good reviews about the Loews Hotel and decided to book a weekend for our anniversary. Needless to say, with high expectations, I was sadly disappointed. Our doors were opened as we pulled up to valet. However, it took them awhile to realize we started taking our own luggage out of our trunk since we stood waiting a couple of seconds looking at our open trunk while being surrounded by the ones who opened our doors. Go figure. As we entered the lobby, I was not that impressed with the feeling that I usually get when I enter other four/five star hotels. Although bright and beautiful with the palm trees anchored throughout, I am not sure why I felt that way. I guess I expected more luxury, but then again, we were at the beach. Does that matter? It took us about 30 minutes to check-in, but the front desk person was nice and friendly nonetheless. Our room was small and typical. Not worth the price. But, I guess it was for the view we had of the pool and the gorgeous beach. As we waited anxiously for our luggage to arrive to settle in, I looked out to the lobby and spotted them lonely and abandoned. We decided to go get them ourselves since it didn't seem that they were going to be delivered anytime soon. The lobby became very busy at that point. Obviously, no one realized that they went missing or that we may have retrieved them ourselves. No call. Gosh. Someone would've been walking around wearing my bikini! Eeww. We had dinner at Ocean and Vine. The food was great, but the service was okay. All was forgiven with a taste of the chef's menu and 'happy anniversary' outlined in chocolate when served our creme brulee! Last, but not least, our room was directly located across the ballroom in which a wedding reception was being held. We survived a long night of chatter and music. But, it was a reminder of our wedding date and that the newlyweds would share and celebrate the same date for years to come (we hope)! Overall, my stay was good and relaxing (away from the hotel) with just walking distance away from the beach and the promenade. I enjoyed my weekend, but am not so sure I would return to stay at the hotel.
