Linnell Motel and RestInn Conference Center Motel - Page 1

I have family in the area and I usually stay at the Linnell Motel while I'm visiting them. The staff is very accomadating and the housekeeping seems to be maintaining the place very well. Also, noticed that they now have wireless internet access and have done many other upgrades. The prices are reasonable. I'd recommend it. I usually have a great stay there.

I have to echo both sets of reviews, though my rating is, ultimately poor. It's like the rhyme: when she was good, she was very, very good, but when she was bad, she was horrid. Since 2004, we have stayed at the Linnell at least twice a year, usually for several days. (We have connections in the area). The staff, particularly the front desk staff, are very helpful and, to the extent possible, accommodating (the good part). However, the bad part has to do with housekeeping and rates, and that's what lowers the mark to a 3. On one occasion, our room was not made up--and when we got back, there was no one in housekeeping to make it up. On our most recent visit, housekeeping left the door to the room unlocked. While we take our most valuable possessions with us, there were still things in the room which might have been of interest to a thief.

Finally, after years of staying at the Linnell (the kind of return visit rate that gets "equity" consideration at some chains), we were startled to discover that our room was $14 per night more than it had been in October--a considerable hike.

We have stayed at the Linnell principally because of its proximity to the town of Rumford, but that no longer offsets sketchy housekeeping and unpredictable rate increases. We will be staying at the Blue Iris in the future.

OK, so the hotel is not the Ritz but you get what you pay for. It was clean, neat and the staff was super friendly. I had every question answered with not just a stock answer but a sincere offer to help. When my daughter left her skis at the mountain after a ski race, they helped me to figure out how to ship them back to me. This was AFTER I had left. How did they know if I would ever even come back? The way I see it, they did not even have to give me the time of day when I called days later and asked for help. Instead, they went over the top to help me. That is worth a lot more to me than super-plush accommodations. This is the perfect place to crash if you are an outdoors type who isn't interested in paying for a room that you will almost never see. I would rather sink the cash into something else. Good value, excellent staff, very conveniently located.

Instead of staying at this Hotel, book your room at the Blue Iris JUST 2 minutes down the road. They are wonderful. :-)

When booking the room at Linnell, we were given 1 price, however, after driving 1200 miles, and arriving 12-23-07, we were charged another amount which was almost $40.00 more. We were told that an employee made a mistake and quoted me last years price. I explained to the manager that I didn't feel like we should have to pay the difference since it wasn't our mistake. He said he would check into it and place a credit on my card that was on file with them. 6 days later, I am still being given a run around and am now being told that someone in their "accounting department" will cut a check tomorrow morning for the difference. We will never stay at this Hotel again. Besides this problem, the rooms are VERY dated, and NOT clean. I wouldn't sit on the bedspread or walk on the carpet without having shoes or slippers on. I will update this review if/when I get the difference in quoted price and actual price charged. I want this to be a fair review.

****1/13/08 Update-Still have not been given a refund of difference and was told by staff there, that they could/would not give me owners name or number to call, (said they were told they would be fired if they did) so I have now reported this business to the Better Business Bureau.
