First of all i would like to say the 2bedrrom resort we stayed in was very clean and nice. but as far as service went when we needed something such as towels ,garbage bags etc. I would call front desk and get transfered to several different operators for any service or question i had not only was this aggravating . we waited a couple of hours for them to bring our things requested. finally frusterated i went to the front desk and talked to the manager and got some things resolved like garbage bags, and the gigantic plant cut from in frontof our door that we hardly could open or close. still didn't recieve towels or x-tra pillows till next day!!!! The water park if that's what u want to call it was a joke nice for the ages of 3-9 year olds. the reg. pool was like a public pool trying to find a space to even get in.overcrowded!!!!!! oh and the bumper boats ha ha was in a little water hole that had a sign posted DON'T FEED THE ALLIGATORS! Now i come from little ohio and i know there's alligators in florida but i sure don't want to get on a bumper boat and meet one personaly let alone send my children on one!when i went to check out and get my deposit back i was shocked to find out i owed $88.00 for using the phone locally!!!! NEVER ONCE WAS TOLD I WOULD BE CHARGED FOR LOCAL CALLS OR WAS NEVER POSTED ON PHONE OR NEAR PHONE!! IF THAT WAS THE CASE I WOULD HAVE USED MY CELL PHONE. BOTTOM LINE IF U WANT CRUMMY SERVICE OR TO BE RIPPED OFF STAY @ THE LIKI TIKI RESORT.

member icon Liki Tiki: 5 Star - NOT

Stayed there 3 nights (May 2008) for the promo package of 2 Disney tics. It was not bad, but it was not as advertised.

They billed it as:

5-star resort (more like 3)

shuttle to parks (1 per day)

5 miles to Disney (10 miles)

Water Park was great for kids

We stayed in a new building (1400) one BR, a bit on the small side, but large enough. Heard neighbor's TV easily.

We'll stay somewhere else next time.

36 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We just returned from a week at the Liki Tiki Village. 4/25/08 - 5/3/08. Like all of you reading this, I did several hours of research on the Internet to find a place for us to stay. We are upper-middle class travelers from California. My husband and I usually like to stay at higher-class resorts & spas. I was a little hesitant of Liki Tiki only because of the poor reviews that I read but we were travelling with our three-year-old daughter and wanted a fun place for her to stay. I have to agree with some of these reviews that the property itself is a bit old. And if you're looking for a five-star resort, this is not the place for you. However, everything was awesome. When making your reservation, do request to stay in the newer towers. Although we didn't see the inside of the older townhomes, the buildings did look older from the outside. We stayed in the 1200 building in a two-bedroom condo and it was great. From the minute we checked in, every staff member was extremely friendly and helpful.

Don't be fooled by the "water park." I thought it was an entire separate water park from the hotel. It is basically their main pool area. But it was awesome!! It is a zero entry pool, which is great with little ones. They have 4 smaller water slides and one larger one. My three year old had a blast on all 5 of them. I think kids of all ages will enjoy themselves. In a separate area right off the main pool, there is a baby pool area that comes up to an adults ankles. Perfect for babies to sit and splash in. This is where the Octopus swing is however there were no swings attached to it. Probably safer that way anyway. The water slide pool closes at dusk which is roughly 8pm. There are two other pools (just regular pools, nothing fancy) that are open until midnight. We never did use either one of them. All of the pools were nicely heated and perfect temperatures. I will suggest that if you plan on spending a day at the pool, get down there between 9:30-9:45 am to reserve your chairs. Just put some towels and lotions on the chairs and nobody will bother them. The chairs do fill up after 10:00 but we never felt that the pool was too crowded.

There is also a restaurant/bar at the pool with "pool type" foods at decent prices. You can get a kids chicken fingers and fries meal for around five bucks, and it comes with cookies too. And it was plenty of food.

They also have an activities area in the pool area. They offer different games throughout the day, probably best suited for under teenage years. They have chalk play, painting activities, air-brushed tattoos, tye-dye t-shirt making and other fun things. Karaoke on Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays after 5pm.

Liki Tiki is located pretty much off the main drag of the area and there are a ton of restaurants and gift shops nearby. It's about a 10-15 mile drive to the theme parks but it didn't take us long at all.

I have nothing bad to say about Liki Tiki. The people writing the poor reviews are probably snooty high class people who should go stay at Five-Crowns or something. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay there again. When we checked in, we asked not to be bothered about taking a time-share presentation and we were never called or bothered about it.

If you are not travelling with children, and are easily annoyed by a lot of them, do not stay here. It is definitely a children's playground and you will not find peaceful, quiet time at this pool.

If you want to ask me any other questions or would like to see some of my photos or videos, please feel free to contact me. Just make sure you put "Liki Tiki Info" or something like that in the subject of your email. Otherwise, if I don't recognize a name, I will delete the email without opening it. I know it's tough making decisions for your family vacation so I'm happy to give you my un-biased reviews and offer any answers that I can. hsaffel@yahoo.com

I am very likely to return to the Liki Tiki Village.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

40 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Like you probably, I was a little wary about this place from some online reviews. We've been going to Orlando area for 5 years now during February school break for a little bit of business but mainly family vacation. Once we arrived at the Liki Tiki, all concerns were gone. Our check-in was a little after 4pm. It took only a few minutes to check in, they mentioned our option to see another person regarding resort benefits, but he was tied up so we went right to our room. We did request a building closer to the lagoon, even though they said they couldn't guarantee it. We had the first building closest to the lagoon - top floor. Excellent location!!! The top floor has vaulted ceilings in the main room and the master bedroom. Yes, there were a few flaws - I can overlook some chipped paint and spiderwebs outside here and there, but I know that the staff was always working hard on keeping the place neat. Last year we stayed at another family resort suite in Kissimmee that cost over $330 a night and the room at the Liki Tiki was more than twice the size - we got a rate for less than $150 through a discount site (shop around with Orbtiz, hotels.com, etc.)

The "room" was great - huge for just our family of 4 (kids ages:11 & 8) - the view overlooking the lagoon from the balcony was wonderful. Even though we had rain & lightning one morning, the staff made even that day pleasant. When other kids got rowdy at the pool, the lifeguards quickly put an end to that, to our relief. We had a rental car, and do recommend getting food at Publix right down the road. We didn't eat at the resort - the "free" breakfast was just donuts and muffins and a huge line for that, so we ate out or had cereal in our room. My husband is a night owl, and he was able to watch TV without disturbing me or the kids. Only once did we hear our neighbors, and that was around 10am and it sounded like their kids were getting anxious to go to a theme park during the thunderstorm. Having the washer/dryer in the room was wonderful after getting wet at the pool during a rain storm (we didn't have to bring any wet clothes home on the plane - YEA)

Of note of anywhere in Florida: we visited family in a different part of FL before coming here and everywhere we go, the water is very nasty - buy bottled water everywhere, even when making your coffee or tea.

Try to ask for a room near the lagoon - and you'll be fine. Maybe when our kids get to be teenagers they may be bored with the pool, but the mini-golf, paddle boats (don't bother with the bumper boats - they were slow) and other sports available, it will be our place for a while. We never got called or bugged about timeshare or anything - we consider this place a solid "A" for the price and amenities.
