The Historic Cary House Hotel is the preferred home away from home. This 141-year-old four-story brick landmark has been renovated to include private bath and kitchenettes or kitchens. Each floor has a theme, and each room reflects that theme. The Cary House is located within walking distance to a variety of restaurants and specialty shops. The Milton Room is available for meetings and small weddings. Inquire about our mystery dinner weekends.

The Historic Cary House Hotel is located on Main Street. It has fabulous two bed rooms with kitchenettes. But I stayed in a single room that had no cooking but did have a small refrigerator. Every room is elegant. And fun! If you have any interest in history this is the place to stay: antique furniture (not the beds - desks, chests, piano etc.) old registries (with Samuel Clemmons signature among others), and curiosities like the safe no one has been able to open. I tried the safe with a couple of combinations every morning on my way to breakfast. Because of the Cary House's location you can walk along Main Street exploring the many interesting little shops. There are a variety of restaurants, not chains but great unique food. The city park with swimming pool, and post office are located just a short walk behind the hotel. I highly recommend the Historic Cary House Hotel for your stay in Placerville.

In August every year, we go to California to visit the wine country in the area. We lucked upon the Cary house and went back this year.
The location is great for visiting the area and walking in town and visiting the restaurants. The staff is friendly and gracious. The rooms are themed and nicely furnished. I love the history. Have fun!
I am very likely
to return to the Lexington Historic Cary House Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
