The location on Chataqua Lake is excellent. Please be aware that the hotel is approximately one hundred and thirty years old and strives to be as authentic to the period as possible, right down to period clothing. The food was very good and full breakfast and dinner is provided at no cost, so take advantage because the hotel is a bit pricey. I would stay again because the atmosphere is to my liking. There are large wooden rocking chairs on a massive front porch overlooking the lake. Personal amenities must be provided by yourself. The rooms are devoid of TV, phones, air conditioning, and data hookups. Mostly bathrooms are shared, privates must be booked and are at minimum availability. The coffee in the morning or cocktails in the evening on the porch are worth the trip. Life here is not hectic and yours shouldn't be either.

This hotel made me feel relaxed: Life in Bemis Point is peaceful by nature. The premise of the hotel is to enjoy the lake and the setting it provides. Just sit back and allow the world and time to go by without the general worries we all carry with us. Enjoy another time and way of life without the modern conveniences that drive our insanities.
