You can walk two blocks up to the Sunset Strip. Very good location near the Whiskey a Go Go, Rainbow, and The Key Club, etc.
Hotel was beautiful, boutique, nice design, big rooms, but... for all of the good, the negative couldn't be overlooked.
I stayed there New Year's eve 2007 and it was our anniversary. Hotel had nice rooms but there were a few things that were clunky. Amateur hour stuff -- especially for $315 for the night and the web site promoting that "A list celebs stay there!"
1) Went for a sunset swim on the rooftop pool. There was ONE towel in the cabana area - we had to call them to bring towels.
2) Jacuzzi was broken - motor burned out and no one in the hotel seemed to notice until I called the engineer who came up and checked it out. "Oh, it will be fixed by tomorrow."
3) It was nice they sent up a bottle of bubbly for our anniversary on the house, but then they charged me for it at checkout. They had to take it off my bill. An oversight, but come on people.
4) I called at 9 am New Year's day (like they told me to do) for a late check out - extend it until 1 pm. Front desk calls me at 12:30 to "remind me that check out time was at 12:00." I politely told them that I already authorized a late check-out. Thanks.
5) The room above had two kids who ran and played, it sounded like they were dropping bowling balls on our ceiling. Started around 7 am NY day and continued, non-stop until we left. Even when room service arrived with our breakfast it continued and was very annoying. The kids even were playing on the balcony above and yelling. I called front desk twice and it didn't seem like anything was done. I even told them at check out. They said, "Oh, I'm so sorry..." I wasn't looking for any discounts but just for them to call the room above and tell them there was a complaint.
I spent over $400 that night (includes the $24 parking! OY! ) and expected just a tiny bit more than I would have gotten at the Holiday Inn.
