26 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
I would never return to this hotel. While the rooms are appropriately clean and decorated for the price that you pay, several other nearby hotels: Shutters, Casa del Mar, the Viceroy are superior in the service that they provide to guests. Several members of my family including my parents stayed at Le Merigot for the weekend of my wedding at the neighboring Shutters. Rather than having a beautiful stay at the hotel, my family found that it paid over $2500 to be openly insulted and mocked by the staff.
Our family had requested early check-in for the four rooms, but had not received it. The hotel offered to hold their luggage for the two hours before check-in while my family attended the wedding rehearsal next door. When our family arrived back early one hour before check-in, they found their luggage sitting out in the open in the lobby without anyone watching it. My parents found that they were able to stroll right up to the luggage and take it without anyone noticing. My parents are also in the hospitality business and own a small establishment of their own. This is more or less what they do with the luggage of guests who have not paid for their rooms. My parents were both horrified and felt that the staff had greatly insulted their dignity. They could not understand why anyone would leave my fathers tux and my mothers dress for tomorrows wedding out in the open without first calling and notifying them when the staff had already been given their cell phone numbers. When my family complained to the staff, the staff was openly disrespectful and openly mocked my parents for even feeling insulted. Though this may be hotel policy, someone should have apologized to my family for the insult that was inadvertently given. On what should have been one of the happiest days of my familys lives, their expectations were not particularly high. However, basic respect for guests feelings is one of those expectations.
We found the hotel staffs service and friendliness to be extremely wanting. This is a hotel that likely is acceptable on most occasions; however, for the most important occasions, in which you want to remember everything beautifully, I would avoid this hotel. The rooms are average and clean given its cost and the location fine but not the best. There are hotels even closer to the beach at similar prices. Our guests and family who stayed at Shutters and Casa del Mar were thoroughly satisfied with their stays and would return again, which is more than I can say for Le Merigot.
This is probably the worst experience in a spa that I have ever had. It started with being escorted through the business center, down a hall and down in the basement - we we stood for 5 minutes without a single person at the desk to check us in...
pros: nice bed, great bellpeople, dogs allowedThere were some nice touches (great bed, fantastic bellpeople and valets, a classic novel by the bedside), but overall Le Merigot was a big disappointment. There were no ocean view rooms available, but...
