This is a really nice property, but missing a few of the amenities you'd find at a bigger chain, such as a hot breakfast, mini-mart, pool, etc. It excels in the room decor, which has beds that are dressed out to the max (a little firm for my back), tons of expensive duvets, feather pillows, craftsman style lighting, etc. It is very convenient to 101 and the high tech areas.
The big thing about this hotel is the Craftsman style furnishings. It really is beautifully decorated. But, also in the Craftsman style, there's not a lot of light in the rooms because the windows are small and the lights are made for mood lighting, not necessarily for function. It's a good business hotel with a lot of amenities that could make it a romantic escape, except, it's by a freeway with no pool -- so it seems sort aimed at mixed audiences. It's definitely upscale for a suite hotel.
The staff is nice and tries to be helpful, but sometimes the old college try doesn't quite cut it. As a smaller chain, they sometimes just don't have the resources to solve problems. I've stayed here for a total of 4 months split between 2 visits, but ultimately decided a nearby property was better suited for a long-term stay.
One thing that is unique is their free washer and dryers. What is unique is that you can dial a number from your room and an automated service will tell you how many washers and dryers are currently free, so you don't make an unecessary trip to the laundry room. Talk about genius! I love it. :)
I do love a lot of things about this hotel, but there are just enough quirks that it didn't work well for me. But I think this would be ideal for a business traveler who didn't need the hot breakfast or mini-mart or pool. I could see it fitting perfectly for a guy who needs a place to crash while working in Silicon Valley.
If there were a 6 and 1/2, I'd give it that. I can't say it's great (a 7), but it is definitely a bit better than good (a 6).
