I grew up in Kingston and have spent many years on Lake Texoma and at the Lodge and cabins. On this particular weekend we chose to rent 2 cabins for a 40th birthday gathering (which we have done several times in the past). To make this short, the left hand doesn't have a clue what the right hand is doing at this resort.
We felt upon check-in that all plans had been covered with the resort management. Upon arrival, a park ranger stopped and questioned us as to where we had picked up a key. After made to feel like squatters, he left. Only to return to inform us that there was a fee to park our motor home between the 2 cabins we rented. We complied by immediately going to the front desk at the lodge and took care of the matter. We were then informed upon a 3rd visit from the park rangers that we could not have a motor home plugged into one of the cabins because of safety issues. A visit was made to the manager, to which we were told the same thing. No problem. We are law abiding citizens of each of our local communities, all of the age of 40, and don't find going to jail for an electrical issue amusing at all. We told the manager and park ranger that this was not a problem. The extension cords were unplugged. The following morning, another officer stopped by stating that the already paid for motor home was to have been moved the night before. I was at this point beyond confused. We were never told that we had to move our motor home, only if we wanted electricity for the night. I was also told by this same officer that I had been plugged up to the electricity all night, which is not the truth by any means. As stated above, we are law abiding citizens simply gathering from around a 200 mile radius to celebrate a dear friend's birthday. We were not there to cause any problems whatsoever.
I love this lake and brag to my friends who have never seen Texoma on how wonderful my "hometown" is. This experience left everyone somewhat sour and I simply hate that. This is not intended to insult or slander, but hopefully to improve communications between customer, management and the park rangers.
The cabins themselves were clean and roomy. The windows on the other hand were completely filthy. We were in cabins right on the water but upon raising the blinds to see the beautiful lake, it was a view of spiders, webs, Dirt Dobber’s nests, leaves, and needless to say, there wasn't any view.
I realize it is winter, but there are reasons people come to the lake and to see it would be one of them.
I am sorry if I have offended anyone, this is not my intent.
