Excellent
We were in Maui for Christmas 2008 and were totally happy with our stay at Lahaina Shores. The location was perfect, within walking distance to town. Right next door was a great bar, 2 great restaurants and a small store where you could purchase...
The pictures definitely do not

Okay
The pictures definitely do not represent this hotel. Even though the online travel website listing specifically says it is several miles from the waterfront, so there is no beach. It is quite literally a stone's throw from a railroad, with trains...
55 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
If you wait to the last 2 weeks you can often get a bargain on a condo rental, and I paid, $110/night thru VBO, unit #511. The hotel is at the end of Front street, which is a mile long strip of restaurants, stores and wharf with boating excursions. At the other end is a Safeway store in the Cannery mall, which has free Hawaiian music performances.
This is the best location because it is midway between the north resorts and the south resorts. Go south to Maalaea Grill (next to the Oceanarium) - the fish of the day is $10.99. Snorkeled in Kaanapali beach next to Westin, Napali Bay, and Kihei. The snorkel trip was crowded and didnt see many fish. If you rent gear and go on your own, its much more enjoyable.
The resorts in Kaanapali are nice, expensive and crowded. I prefer the quiet Lahaina Shores, even though it is more dated.
The pull out bed and pillows were comfortable, the condo had all necessities, including soaps, towels, linens, silverware, cookware, full kitchen. It was clean and about the size of a hotel room.
The view is full out ocean view, You can walk on the beach at night and see the lua next door. You can go on the beach, but wear rubber shoes because of rocks. I didn't snorkel at the hotel, but there might be some.
Save money by using Activity Warehouse ($175 off helicopter) if you want to go to timeshare presentation at Kaanapali Beach Resort. Dont advise helicopter ride if you are even mildly claustrophobic. If you helicopter, Alexair has the oldest fleet.
I LIKED THE RESORT ALOT WE WENT FOR THE 4TH OF JLUY 07 AND IT WAS AWSOME TO SEE THE FIREWORKS OVER THE OCEAN.THE RESORT WAS REAL CLOSE TO ALL THE RESTURANTS AND PARTY SCENE. I WILL BE GOING BACK IN 4TH OF JULY 08.I'M READY FOR THE A FUN TIME...
My fiance proposed to me this past Sept. while we were in Maui. We stayed at Lahaina Shores and I wouldn't have had it any other way. The view was spectacular and so was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I recommend this hotel to...
