Mediocre
29 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

I went here for my bachelorette party with about 8 close friends. First off the lady at the front desk moved in slow motion. Most of us had SpaFinder gift cards and she leisurely took her time checking us in. It took around a 45minutes for us to finally get our keys and spa slippers. Thank god we got there hours before our appointments. Later we laid out by the pool, which was very nice, and ordered a few drinks. Once again, it took (not joking) 25 minutes to get 3 beers, an iced tea and a few pina coladas. The pool waiter told us he was new, but still...it should not have taken as long as it did. It wasn't like the pool was packed or anything. After lounging by the pool for a bit we went to the restaurant/cafe on the second floor of the hotel. The food was so-so, but once again...our waitress was ultra slow. On top of that, I received my iced tea in a glass that was sticky and had finger prints all over it. I don't recommend getting iced tea here because it tastes like it's made from a powder.

Another thing was that in the brochure they faxed us it said a pedicure was $55. There were no additional costs listed on the menu. My sister, being on a tight budget, booked a pedicure. She said that the woman didn't even massage her legs like most places do. They also charged her $65. In addition, she asked for a french pedicure which was a ridiculous $25 dollars more. They never disclosed that having a french pedicure would be an additional charge. My poor (literally) sister ended up paying just about $100, after the 20% automatic gratuity for a stupid pedicure. Once we got back to our car I took the brochure back inside to show them that it was only $55 and the lady took it out of my hand and said it was an error. She did give my sister back $10...but as far as the extra for the french, she said "it says it on the menu" although it did not. Instead of making a fuss, we just decided to leave.

Overall, my friends and I had a really good time, but I would NEVER recommend going to The Spa at Laguna Cliffs. The people who work in the spa were slow and inconsiderate to us. It was basically a hotel spa, so I guess that's what we should have expected. I'd recommend when booking a day spa that you do it at an actual "DAY SPA" and not one affiliated with a hotel. They're just out to charge you an obscene amount for crappy service.

Definitely go somewhere else. I like Burke Williams off of Crown Valley. Although there is no outdoor areas nor pools, they make you feel so special there and the prices are WAY cheaper. Good luck!
