My wife and I waited half an hour for our order to be taken and then waited over an hour and a half. Nothing. Finally, we left because we had to be somewhere else. Judging from the other people around us, it may have taken at least another half hour for the food to arrive. I should add that the Whaling Bar is nice. I would never eat at this hotel, however. Well, let me amend that; I would eat there, but only if I had a full meal somewhere else first.

Excellent
Sometimes it is hard to judge from the pictures that are posted in this website. At first glance, I would have thought that the hotel is secluded from the outside world and have its own private beach. When we arrived there, we realized the hotel is...

The Valencia is in one of the best spots in downtown La Jolla Shores right off of Prospect St with beautiful ocean views.
These were too pricey for us, we had partial, but at least we could easily walk down to the beach (a small, small beach), the restaurants, and shopping. The rooms are pretty standard, and old too, you may feel you are in a European hotel room even (a bit small). I will try another hotel next time.
