From Bad to Worse – Posted Jun 18, 2008

Horrible
40 year old female with a luxury budget

We arrived to a smelly lobby and indifferent front desk clerk. We were given a room on the second floor and as soon as the elevator doors opened we immediately smelled a pungent odor from a musty hallway. On the walk to our room we met two separate hotel guests which were in the hallway trying to gain internet access, because there was no reception in their rooms. Our door key did not work and almost in synch both the guests which were in the putrid smelling hallway said that they had the same problem and had encountered other guests with similar experiences . After several minutes the key finally worked and we were able to gain access to the room, which was unusually hot and musty. We placed our bags on the bed only to feel the damp sheets and pillows which smelled worse than anything else we had encountered up to that point. We went down to the lobby and told the front desk clerk what we had encountered and her response was to say that the air conditioning on the second floor had not been working and she had sprayed the hallway earlier that day, in an attempt to get rid of the smell. We were then told that the key cards had been an issue for quite some time and the front desk staff have continually left upper management and maintenance countless complaints from other hotel guests, but the problem had still not been resolved. The keys had been a continual problem for many months now. We asked if the hotel was full and if not could we please be assigned another room. We were told it was not full, but we could not relocate to another floor, because our room had been assigned prior to our arrival. Having worked in the hospitality industry I am very aware that it IS possible to assign a hotel guest another room when the one they have been given is unsatisfactory. Due to the late hour or our arrival, strict timetable and unfamiliarity with the area we decided to stay the night despite the conditions. We needed to use the internet and could not get a signal from our room and were forced to go to the lobby and use our laptop from that location, because it was the only place we could find an available signal. A member of our family woke up early and tried to use the hotel work out room and found that only TWO of the machines in the gym worked. Our experience was absolutely horrific and what added insult to injury was the fact that the hotel staff was unwillingly to do anything to accommodate us or any of the other customers located on the second floor. This experience was especially troublesome as we were in town due to a medical emergency and should have been able to receive a few hours of sleep after a long road trip and a difficult day ahead of us.

Great Value & Very clean – Posted May 08, 2008

Excellent
59 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

A party of four on route to catch a 10 day cruise. We spent 2 night and found this to be a very clean and respectful hotel. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were generous in size. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful on our arrival, at 1 a.m., and continued their helpfulness throughout our short stay. The continental breakfast was great with lots of variety plus it was included in the room price. WOW! What a deal and a great place to stay. We will return and definitely sent our friends.
