50 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
We tried to book a one night stay on the way to Mexico, and found our travel date was also the weekend of a major sporting event in Denver. Rooms were in short supply but La Quinta had space. The hotel appears to be located off the beaten path, but near the airport. Their rates were reasonable and the room itself was spacious. It included a comfortable couch and coffee table, desk and chairs along with one of the biggest and brightest white bathrooms I've ever seen in a hotel. A small refrigerator and microwave plus coffee maker were available, along with a very nice free continental breakfast in the morning. I liked the fact that they had food ready even when we had to get to the airport by 6 am.
The service from reception staff was off, they seemed really irritated to be asked for recommendations on where to eat dinner. The lobby was empty except for us that night, and the staff looked like they were doing crossword puzzles. This La Quinta is located near a Bennigan's steak place and Village Inn, as well as several other hotels. The hotel next door had a restaurant which was empty and closed by 8pm. The pancake house was also empty. Bennigan's was jumping and the food was really good.
On our way back from Mexico we stayed here again and the staff that night was excellent. On that stay, Bennigan's delivered right to our room, so no shivering walk down the road in the cold. Behind the hotel there is new building going on, including a Ruby Tuesdays restaurant. They do offer free airport shuttles. Get your name on the list for the shuttle or you may find yourself battling flight crews in the morning who think they have first selection on the bus. We'd stay here again. It's a good deal for the price, and they even bake fresh cookies in the evening (check the lobby!).
