Pros: Near Sanibel Island, Ice Machine in hallway, Comfortable King-sized bed
Cons: Mildew smell in FOUR separate rooms (one reeked of cigarette smoke), Snotty customer service, incompetant and misleading front desk personel, rooms not that clean
Overall: I would rather be homeless than stay at this hotel.
The problem: We arrived at midnight without a reservation. We were not planning on staying at a hotel and were happy to hear they had a few King rooms available. We went to room 201, but immediately after opening the room we were nauseated at the smell of mildew throughout. We discussed leaving in about 5-6 minutes and we didn't "get used to the smell." We went back to the front desk and were offered room 126, which smelled like cigarette smoke and was worse than the mildew smell. Then we were offered room 101 which had an even stronger mildew smell and we didn't stay more than a minute until we were offered room 215. This room also smelled faintly like mildew, but as the night went on got stronger and stronger. My daughter, pregnant wife and I all woke up with headaches and allergy-related congestion. The source of the problem: they have no ventilation fan in the bathroom, so the moisture just gets trapped in the entire space. All four rooms did not have a ventilation fan -- HELLO idiots!
We were able to leave after 1 night's stay, but they made an extra $377 worth of pending transaction charges because every time we tried a new room the front desk attendant put a new hold on my credit card. I found this out when we tried a new hotel and my card was declined due to insufficient funds. I had to have Amber from La Quinta call my credit card company to lift the pending $377 and she blatantly lied saying she took care of it when she called me back. A call to the credit card company revealed that they said no one from La Quinta called to fix this issue. When I called later I was harassed by a different La Quinta front desk attendant (Brooke) who rudely suggested I made up the part about Amber calling my CC company. I have the voicemail of Amber lying about taking care of this issue. It took forever to get a three way call to the CC company to get the holds taken off. Needless to say I would rather die than go to that s--thole again. I don't enjoy wasting my vacation playing daddy to La Quinta to fix their mistakes. Oh, the room is tiny and not clean. A woman smoking a few rooms down from me had her smoke come into our room, even with the doors closed. I could go on and on about how bad this place is, but if you haven't figured it out by now, maybe you should apply to work the front desk at this poor excuse of a La Quinta hotel.

I travel a lot on business so I have seen tons of bad hotels. This one was not bad for the price considering overall prices in Ft. Myers area. Premises and room was clean and beds were very comfortable, room didn't smell at all. No highway noise. Great location with restaurants and shopping all around, good restaurant (Mels Diner) right next door. Only thing to caution you about is the bathroom (with shower/tub and toilet) is very small. Sink is in adjoining alcove area which does help. I would stay here again.

Excellent
My fiance and I were on vacation and needed a nice but less expensive hotel to stay in that was not too far from Sanibel Island. We found this hotel and when our eyes first set upon it we thought we made a mistake and bought a room at a 5 star hotel ...

Okay
Room was clean. No bed bugs. Convenient to the pool for most rooms. Had a good variety of breakfast choices. They allow your pets, which is nice. A little short on space for pets to do their business so to speak. Otherwise a decent value for...

Made sure the door was locked at all times. Noisy. Some guy propositioned my husband when he went to get a soda from the soda machine. By the way, the soda machines did not work and there is no place convenient to walk to in order to get...

Our entire stay was pleasant and they had very delightful complimentary breakfast with plenty of places to sit. The locations was perfect for touring Sanibel Island.
The front desk was very informative about the amenities and they gave excellent directions for our activities while staying there.
I am very likely
to return to the La Quinta Inn Fort Myers Central.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
