La Quinta Inn Charleston Riverview Hotel

We walked into our room (511) at 10:30 PM. When we flipped on the light it looked like the walls were moving. The place is ROACH MOTEL! We called the front desk and were hung up on. We ran screaming into the night... trip ruined.

The manager has not returned a single phone call.

I wanted to burn my luggage and cry. Stay elsewhere!

I have stayed at several la quinta inn's in sc/va and this was the first time i had a bad experience. the entire 4th floor of the hotel had no air conditioner (and in the middle of July this is a must). They could not or would not move us to another room and we were told early that the hotel was booked and they would give us a reduced rate. the shower curtain had mold. the electrical socket was not screwed into the wall and just moved. the pool was GREEN!! Most of the staff was not very pleasant, however, there was a couple of nice staff members. I was moved to a new room the next morning and was given a reduced price but not sure if it was worth the trouble.

We had the most horrible experience. We got there before the check in time expecting to check in , go out , and then return directly to our room. they didn't let us do that, and what it was worst, the guy at the front desk told me: " reservation is a requirement but not a guarantee to give you a room".... When I said "excuse me?" he responded: "I said what you heard". Horrible experience, room smelled, and we requested a non-smoking room. The carpet was disgusting. Won't stay and won't recommend at all this hotel.

This hotel is very well kept, the rooms are clean, the staff is very friendly. We stayed for 2 days, and will certainly stay here again. Granted, this is a no frills, reasonable hotel. Anyone who expects a 5 star given these rates, is unrealistic, given the prices I would say this hotel exceeded our expectations. I would rate it a 3 star and a 5 star within hotels in this price range.

It was fine, but they did not have enough handicapped parking.
