Good
This charming hotel is situated right in the friendly neighborhood of Little Italy in San Diego. Some of the rooms over look the courtyard while others look into the main street of restaurants and cafes. I especially like the black marble firplace...

This is a perfect hotel if you're not planning to be in your room very much. Rooms are small and amenities are basic. But there's so much to do around the area that you really don't need anything more than what is provided. Parking is limited, but everything is a $7-10 cab ride away, so if you've flown in, this will be an ideal place to stay.
I absolutely loved my stay at La Pensione. I planned to walk and taxi during my whole stay, so the limited parking wasn't a problem. The staff was wonderful; like life, you get what you give--kindness and respect begets the same.

Excellent
Though I was not expecting the room to be so small, it was a surprisingly nice stay. We had a window that looked over the bay and it was relatively quiet for being so near the airport. We had one iffy experience when the maid tried to clean our room ...

I drove over 6 hours to stay at this hotel and what a waste of time that was.
The staff here were unbelievably rude and not at all helpful from the onset. They lied about parking availability and would not offer any alternatives when hotel parking was "unavailable." Both the front desk person and hotel manager were irate and uncooperative in every respect. The manager basically said to get out and get your refund because he did not want to deal with us.
We gladly did so as we would never want to stay at a horrible place like this that treats their guests like garbage. What a surprise and what a disappointment this was. We could not believe there were people in the industry who acted so unprofessionally. Save yourself the time and trouble and find a respectable hotel with staff who actually care about their guests.
Our stay was a very awful experience in all our stay in hotels. 1) No parking and you have to find your own parking on the street 2) Front desk wasn't a help, suggestions of parking area gave us more trouble, we even have to wake up at 5am to...

It was the most awful experience ever. 1) parking was limited you have to find your own parking on the streets 2) Staff was no help either. 3) Rooms have no AC, its awful specially if its summertime in California. Even if its price is reasonable the hassle you're going to experience is not worth a single penny. Ruined our vacation all together.
