Located in the heart of the Big Island`s west side, this Hawaiian owned oceanfront property is just a few steps from shops, restaurants, Hawaiian entertainment, and countless ocean activities that Kailua-Kona is famous for. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the hotel also has an outdoor swimming pool and restaurant on site. This quaint fishing village was once a playground for Hawaiian Royalty and today serves as a historical waterfront area where the grand Mokuaikaua church and the Hulihee Palace are located. Local fishermen are often seen right outside the hotel and are known to share their stories of this unique town.

Good rates, clean room, no pretentious transplant 'wannabees' trying to act as if they "represent". If you want luxury and being pampered, go pay the high rates somewhere else. If you want a local kine place, stay here. Restaurants on location have friendly staff, better than average food, and great local vibes.

The location of hotel was great, but the lack of customer service from the front desk staff was the worst! I would not go back due to the staff. The Hawaiian economy is very low and yet we were made to feel that our business was not important. The parking situation is really bad and you have to pay to park on the hotel grounds OR you must park next door.

Was comfortable and clean. Was convenient to downtown and shopping. Great place if you don't drive. No room service but the hotel restaurant was good and the staff friendly. I recommend if you eat there , try a loco- moco which is a local favorite .

today is April 16,2008 ... it has been three weeks since we have seen the ocean from the highway ... air is so unhealthy you can taste it ... SO2 ... Sulfur Dioxide warnings have shut schools in worst areas ... whole of Kona and resorts above the airport are just awful ... all owing to adverse wind conditions from the volcano currently belching big time ... civil defense warnings are a common daily occurrence .... if you can delay your visit, you should ... if you can't be prepared to cough your way around the big island ... if you can change your visit to Maui or Kaui ... that would be the thing to do ...

This hotel was located very conveniently to the pier for many ocean excursions, and also a small public beach. It was a very short walk to numerous restaurants and shops. The area was quiet with easy access to the main highway, to the airport and other areas of the island. This hotel is older and locally owned. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean, with slight wear and tear showing. The people at the front desk were helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. The only problem we found was the uphill hike to Wal-Mart two blocks away.
The location and the employees made me feel secure. Also the locks on the entry door and the sliding glass door made me feel secure. The lanai was only accessible through the room, which also helped with the secure feeling.
I am very likely
to return to the Kona Seaside Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

We stayed third floor tower facing ocean (supposedly upgraded accommodations). View- passable. Location- convenient. Room- clean. Parking- rip off at $6 a day, spaces tiny when available, but you'd better not park on the lines or you'll get note on your car and a message on phone! Rooms very small, shabby(carpet wrinkled with no pad, bedspreads threadbare), and no amenities- I've stayed in Motel 6 as comfortably. Thank goodness we were so busy that we spent very little time there. No coffee makers in rooms (or anywhere else that I could find). If you need to iron clothes for dinner at a nice restaurant, you'll have take your clothes to the laundry room to use the communal iron and board. Towels- small and few.

This hotel has a great location. It's within walking distance of all the little shops and restaurants that are on Ali'i Drive. It's close to everything! Even Wal-Mart. The rooms are not fancy, by any means, but are clean. Most rooms have an ocean...

This is a good family run hotel in downtown Kona. Hotel is newly renovated with new carpet, and very clean. Best thing is it is very near to everything like shopping, going for a submarine ride, snorkling anything is just 2-5 minutes walk. The price is also very less comapred to other hotels, Parking is $5 a day, but that shouldn't be a problem to anyone. There are two pools in this hotel, they were kept clean. I Liked this hotel,

Good
I like this hotel because it is nothing fancy and the room rates are reasonable. Most of the rates at other hotels in Kona are a lot higher. This hotel has a swimming pool and a small front desk with very friendly staff. The rooms are located in...
