The Knickerbocker on the Lake is a beautifully restored 1929 Art Deco hotel located 2 blocks from the Lake front and 10 miles from General Mitchell Ineternational Airport. Situated in a quiet residential area about 10 blocks from downtown- the hotel is 5 blocks from the Art Museum- Summerfest- Northwestern Mutual Life- and Johnson Controls- 1/2 mile from Marquette University- 2 1/2 miles from Miller Brewing- and 3 miles from University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. The Knickerbocker combines turn of the century charm and exceptional guest service to provide the highest standards of hospitality. The hotel has retained much of the original charm in the lobby with vaulted ceilings- crystal chandeliers- and the original terrazzo floors. Each uniquely decorated guest room offers free high speed Internet- full kitchens- coffee makers- hairdryers- irons and boards- and digital cable. We have two critically acclaimed restaurants in the hotel- The Knick which is an upscale cafe and the Osteria del Mondo- which is a fine dining Italian restaurant. The Knick is open for lunch and dinner Monday - Friday- and open for breakfast- lunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday. The Osteria is open for dinner only Monday - Saturday and is closed on Sunday. Both restaurants have outdoor patio dining in addition to the main dining rooms. The Juneau Room would be available for small meetings and has a capacity of approximately 35 people. Catering services can be provided by The Knick- The Osteria- or an outside catering company.

The Knickerbocker on the Lake is an older, unusual hotel. It is not a fancy place, but it has everything we needed. Small bathroom, kitchen facilities in the nice-sized room. The water pressure in the shower was the best we ever had in a hotel! The hotel is just a few blocks away from the lake, and about a mile or so from downtown, so easy access to both. We did not see a housekeeper during our visit, but we didn't really need one so it didn't bother us. The front desk attendants were very courteous and helpful. If you don't need "fancy" this place caan be a good deal.

Excellent
A few friends and I went here for brunch on a Saturday. We had their quiche with fresh fruit and breakfast potatoes. The servings were huge and even with coffee it only cost us about $12 each. It's a beautiful location too - not far from the art...

Mediocre
This hotel is great for its location to Lake Michigan and interesting sites. The hotel itself is dirty. The windows were caked with what seemed like decades of dirt. The front desk staff was spotty. Our daytime person (the week of 7/15) was a bit...
