This hotel was old, dirty and needs updating.

This hotel needs to be updated. In the first room the phone did not work along with the air conditioning. Both items worked in the second room, however curtains were dirty and bedding was very outdated. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would not stay there again.

We stayed for 3 nights and they booked the hotel full even though one of their hot water heaters were broken. We didn't have any hot water to take showers two of the three nights. Many other inconveniences followed. I wrote a letter to complain and I didn't even get a reply.

We've stayed at the Kirkley twice while attending family weddings in 2006 & 2007. There is still a lot of work that needs to be completed to make this a truly enjoyable stay. The front desk staff need to greet guest with a smile. We had planned to say two nights but our daughter got sick and since we were only two hrs. away from home we decided to pack up and leave. The front desk clerk was very unsympathic but thankfully the Manager who observed how ill our daughter was waived the 2nd night charge. We will be returning to Lynchburg for another wedding in 2008, we will stay at the Kirkley simply because of the kindness on the Manager. Hopefully the hotel improvements will be complete and the staff will have attended some customer service programs.

We arrived to check into our reserved, already paid for king room at 4:30pm. Check in was after 2 pm. They did not have our room ready, and the lady at check in was not friendly about it. She could not tell us when a king room would be ready. She offered a double room, but no other offers or apologies. I explained that we were there for a family event that started at 6, and we had to get into a room and get checked in. Again, she just stated she could only put us into a double room, but we could move to a king room later if one came available. The accomodations were ancient, and appeared dirty. The bed was like sleeping on hardwood. I would never stay here again simply because the service was horrible!
