King's Pointe Waterpark Resort King's Pointe Resort in Storm Lake, Iowa opened August 2007. The resort is located right on the shores of Storm Lake, a 3,200 acre natural lake in northwest Iowa. King's Pointe is part of a $39 million Project AWAYSIS by the city of Storm Lake. Project AWAYSIS intends to transform the shores of Storm Lake into a tourist destination. The Discovery Plunge - an enclosed raft ride with virtual reality fun packed into a 420-foot descent! The slide features technology that allows riders to experience one of 8 different virtual reality action themes such as sea creatures, storms, hot air balloon rides, and sharks. Riders select their "adventure" from a touch screen at the top of the slide tower, and then experience this adventure on the descent - complete with sights and sounds!
