Kiawah Island offers 10,000 acres of beauty. There are 10 miles of pristine beach, perfect for shelling, swimming, or just relaxing. The lush maritime forest, which lies just beyond the delicate sand dunes, is a haven for wildlife, and heron, deer and other animals roam the island. The ever-changing salt marshes harbor a variety of wildfowl and create an exquisitely balanced ecosystem that helps the island thrive. The island provides guests with a variety of activities, as well. Guests can enjoy over 30 miles of biking and hiking trails, glide through the waters on a kayak, enjoy a dolphin-watching cruise, or play any of the four golf courses on the island, as well as several other local courses. The Bohicket Marina on neighboring Seabrook Island has shopping and dining, and several water tours leave from the docks. There is great shopping and dining at Freshfields Shopping Village, just off the island. Within a short ride, guests can participate in wine tastings or visit the only Tea Plantation in America. The Angel Oak, perhaps the oldest living thing east of the Mississippi, is a quick car ride away. Downtown Charleston offers shopping, dining, art, music, dance and theatre only 45 minutes from Seabrook Island. Our comfortable villas are between 25 to 500 yards from the beach. Furnished decks or screened porches face the wooded groves, peaceful lagoons, tranquil marshes, legendary golf courses, or Atlantic Ocean. All properties offer completely furnished living and dining areas, fully equipped kitchens including cookware, silverware and dishes. Amenities include color cable television and VCR or DVD player, telephone, microwave, and central heating and air conditioning. All linens except beach towels are provided and, in most properties, a washer/dryer. Bedding varies, but most properties have a queen bed in the master bedroom and either 2 twin beds or a queen bed in subsequent bedrooms. Non-smoking properties are available upon request.

55 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
We loved the light, the views, the oak trees the house & deck were wrapped around and sheltered under. We didn't like the swarm of ants that invaded one bedroom, the broken vacuum that kept them there, the toilets that ran and didn't cut off, the warped windows that didn't close, the leaky windows that soaked the beds one rainy night, the sand in the dishwasher that covered our dishes, or the flickering flourescent light that failed to illuminate the pantry. All in all, too high a price for all the maintenance issues we were forced to deal with! Maintenance work appears to be scheduled. Maybe they'll fix these issues soon.

We spent the last week in March in Kiawah. This is our seventh trip to the island and rented a villa through ResortQuest.
The unit was pretty and only a short walk to the Ocean. Early in the week we noticed the villa did not come equipped with a vacuum (we have two small children). I requested the vacuum on Monday only to receive a broken vacuum on Wednesday. Also, the kitchen closet, where the garbage can is kept, had a horrendous odor. Otherwise, the unit was pretty decent but pricey for these "inconveniences".
