There was a group of us....more than one cabin...Location and service were great..but I have my doubts on how often sheets and especially comforters are cleaned, as well as the shower and toilet....showers could use an upgrade. Was there in the winter..hot water was only hot if you turned the pressure waaaaaaaay down..then you had hot water but hardly any water coming out!! Parking was tight with trucks and snowmobile trailers there. The paths to the cabins from were you had to park were not shoveled or snowblowed so you had to carry all your gear about 75ft across icy and/or soft snow to the cabin. Mini-fridge and microwave was helpful. A stove would have been nice too..but no room, as the cabins are tight. Cable TV was good, as well as the WIFI. Can't say for sure how new the mattresses were..they were OK as far as comfort goes. Skip is definatley on top of the muffin and cookie making....really super nice guy with tons of info on the area..and if he doesn't know something himself he will make a call and find out for you. Seems to have a good network of friends/business owners in town and in the area. Place was cheap to stay at, and very quiet..no yahoos... but we may have been more comfortable in a Motel room or another place that has bigger cabins..with more amenities...might be worth paying the extra $20-$25 a night to have a jacuzzi and a pool and a place with restaurant/bar on site. We also did not care for the fact that people can bring and leave thier dogs in the cabin whilke they are gone. Just not into staying in a cabin where animals have been..you know what I mean? And I am a dog owner..so I know. We will stay in a different place next time and compare.
I am somewhat likely
to return to the Katahdin Cabins.
I might recommend it to friends.
These are quaint, rustic little cabins in the lovely town of Millinocket, which is the ending place for the Appalachian Trail going up to the beautiful Katahdin Mountain. We visited in January, which was a bit much for a couple from Texas, but we hit beautiful sunny skies against the cold snow and the owners couldn't have been more accommodating - they even delivered hot cookies and provided free snow shoe equipment for the great hiking trails. There's also a neat little cafe called the Appalachian Trail Cafe where they bake all their own breads & desserts, the portions are generous & delicious, all's very reasonably priced, and it's where the townsfolk gather in good friendship. This is a delightful little town with good, honest and friendly people, so if you want to get back to the basics and enjoy the beauty of Maine, this is the place. January 2009
My girlfriend & I had a super stay at the Katahdin Cabins in September. Cabins are cozy, super clean, comfortable & QUIET! Bed was a honest-to-goodness Sealy Pillow-Top - sheets spotless & newer/newish - mini-fridge/microwave spotless & newer. Wi-Fi BLAZED so we had no problems getting emai/surfing while we were there. The muffins/cookies? BAKERY good - AMAZING actually. The owners (Skip & Nicole) made us feel so welcome immediately upon checkin and our entire stay - WE WILL BE BACK!
Have been to the Katahdin Cabins twice now. First time with a group of ten hikers for 8 nights who all had a FANTASTIC stay, second time just with my partner. Owners (Skip, Nicole & charming children!) are the most friendly & hard working folks I might have possibly ever met. They have a most impressive way of making you feel welcome and being gracious WITHOUT being overbearing or making you feel smothered. The cabins? Cozy no doubt - but very CLEAN - very quiet (no rowdies or loud partiers here!) - comfortable with a great queen size bed - very clean mini-fridge/microwave - and ODOR FREE rooms. No dust bunnies - no mold/mildew - no pet smells - which I truly appreciated since I am keen to odors due to my allergies. Fire pit was great in the evenings for smores & star watching. Even took advantage of the free bike use to pedal around the town when not hiking. And the MUFFINS - magnificient!!! Great value - GREAT people - take it from us - it is the place to stay in the Katahdin Region!

We have been to Katahdin Cabins four times. Our very first trip was back in March 2007. We had a great time! Our group (8 in total) stayed for 2 nights and the service was excellent. Homemade muffins and coffee in the morning; fresh baked cookies waiting for us in our cabins in the late afternoon and Skip (owner) even made us a very delicious key lime pie for dessert one night. Once again the cabins were very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. We would definitely recommend a stay at Katahdin Cabins!
This was our second trip to Katahdin

Just had a truly wonderful stay here! The cabins were cozy but very well furnished - on a cool June night we really appreciated the fluffy down comforters on the pillowtop mattress bed! New bedding/linens/pillows - tankless hot water heaters work great and inspired my husband to try and install one upon our return home. Now as for that hospitality.......awesome! Shortly after checkin we were delivered a plate of fresh hot chocolate chip/oatmeal raisin cookies - melt in your mouth delicious! They referred us to some great restaurants, told us which trails would be best for us (South Turner - loved it!) - they even plotted a great driving Moose tour in which we saw 5 moose! Just a charming place to stay - highly recommended!
