The overall appearance and appointments were suitably attractive. The room was spacious and modernly equipped including hairdryer. We did not eat or imbibe at the facility so can't comment on those.
If you stay, request a room that does not face Jeffry Street. The noise from traffic and late-night drinkers seemed to easily penetrate the walls and windows making for restless sleep. A smaller disappointment was the lack of facial wash cloths in the bathroom. The staff say they're just a 3-star so I guess that becomes a big price-point item.
Otherwise, this is a terrific location for the tourist. Everything from the train station, to the tour buses, bus station, Royal Mile, shopping, Edinburgh Castle, on so forth, are within easy walking distance. On the whole, a good value for the dollar/pound.
