Jekyll Oceanfront Clarion Resort

This place is a pure dump. Water doesnt work, power goes out, the carpet and furniture are disgusting. Front desk staff are rude and dishonest. The entrance smells like the dumpsters that sit just outside. It is plain awful! Stay far away!

A month after my stay, I was dumbfounded to find what I was charged for a couple of phone calls made from my hotel room, using my calling card number (I did not make these calls through the hotel's calling service). I was charged $170 for maybe ten minutes' worth of talk time. This really soured my experience, as it seems predatory (my cell phone didn't work there) and like something the hotel should know about; they either didn't know or don't care.

It looks great in the pictures they show online. But the room they put my family and I in was horrific. It was very old out of date, smelled bad, wall paper falling down, with push pins holding it up. Kitchen was not supplied. The TV was from the 60's I think. Everything was stained and rusty. I was devastated, this was nowhere near what they show at there home site.

When I complained, they took $50 off per night. I was still paying premium dollar for a dump. The next day I found out that a large group was leaving. I inquired about an other room. The manager assured me she would get me a renovated room, to enjoy my day they call me later when it was ready.

After 5 o'clock when I had not herd back from the front desk, I called and told there were no other rooms available. When I said they needed to find me one quick, I was then shown another room only slight better.

This room had busted tile in the shower and rusty stove and refrigerator. The carpet and curtain were patched and ragged. But at least it didn't smell bad. They again discounted my room charge. I stilled paid $130 per night., outrageous in my opinion for the condition of the room.

I like the fact that they accommodate the annual Sandy Paws' greyhound gathering every March and they go out of their way to put up with hundreds of greyhounds and owners all over the place. The rooms are clean and the service is commendable for such a gathering. I look forward to attending this event each year and I hope they will continue to allow us to descend upon them for years to come.

Our breakfast choices only included muffins, pastry sweet rolls, and no bread. No toaster or plain bread.

Several in our group were diabetic, so they needed bread. Also, no toaster was provided. As we were staying four days, I asked, at the regular restaurant, if I could make toast, which I could. It was inconvenient, as had to leave our dining area and wait a bit.

I think it would be good if they did include bread, jams, and a toaster.
