Billed everywhere as a high-end luxury resort, one would expect--at the very least--a clean room, good food and decent service. On its website, this hotel appears pristine and on par with the best. Do not be fooled--this is a facade of a nice hotel. It does not come close to what it claims to be.
At first glance, it looks beautifully appointed and well-maintained. Then at the elevator, you get that smell and see the scratches and dings that you'd expect from a budget motel. And instead of that elegant look of the lobby, the halls look cheap and not all that clean.
The guest rooms have nice touches, such as marble bathroom floors and rain fall showers. But then you find hair in a shower you're not sure has been cleaned; stains or rust or something on the sink fixtures; lamp shades with stains. It all amounts to feeling you are not in a clean place--I was wishing for anti-bacterial wipes to wipe down the place with before touching anything.
My air conditioner/fan/heater and the buttons on my phone all did not work properly. Little irritating things kept coming up, like making the coffee in the room and then finding there was no sugar or stirrers or anything you normally find with a hotel coffee maker. The hotel layout was also very confusing. For example, we made a spa appointment and they told us to be at least 20 minutes early, but it was so hard to find the place we were almost late.
The food is occasionally above that of a school cafeteria (the cheesecake is good) and the room service menu so limited I started ordering from the children's menu. And because the hotel location is so remote, it's not as if you can walk to town to find something to eat. One night I even resorted to snacks from the gift shop for dinner.
I do think they hire nice people--but they are not properly trained and/or managed. I was fairly surprised at the staff's inability to actually be helpful (even if they were nice). I heard more "I don't knows" and was left hanging more than one would ever expect from a hotel anywhere. Even working with conference services--very nice people, but not exactly pro-active or solutions oriented. And the housekeeping staff was pretty obnoxiously loud, even knocking on doors at 8am on a Sunday morning--even I could hear people saying they were sleeping and did not want to be disturbed (door after door after door).
This hotel should also not claim to be close to the Strip--it is not close and costs up to $50 for a one-way cab ride.
With that said, there are two things in this hotel that meet luxury resort standards: 1) The beds are comfy with great pillows and luxurious bedding; 2) The lead massage therapist, Cody, gives one of the best deep tissue massages anywhere. I would actually just go back (but not stay) just to get a treatment from him, he is that good.
I stayed for 6 nights and have traveled extensively all over the world so I can confidently say that this hotel is definitely not worth the price, nor should it be considered a true luxury resort. But if you decide to go anyway, lower your expectations and schedule a treatment with Cody.
