The Island Vista has been providing first class Accommodations on the Grand Strand since 1981. Located in the heart of one of the Grand Strand's most affluent residential communities, the Island Vista has been a tradition for Myrtle Beach vacationers for many years. Its superb location along a quiet stretch of beach, paired with award-winning dining, tasteful surroundings and friendly efficient service, has helped build a reputation as a great place for those who want a little more from their vacation. The original Island Vista Inn served as one of Myrtle Beach's most sought after family vacation destinations. The Inn was the only hotel in Myrtle Beach to offer package rates including breakfast and dinner to its guests, and this tradition of excellent service and wonderful meals created a huge family of guests that returned year after year, making the Inn a legend in its time. In 2004 the Chapman family decided it was time for an extensive facilities upgrade. After providing almost 25 years of vacations to guests of the area, the Island Vista Inn was officially closed and demolished so the reconstruction could begin.

I spent five days at the Island Vista with my fiancee. We had a one bedroom, ocean front room. The room was VERY small. There was a king sized bed (or so they said), but it was actually two twin beds pushed together with a "great divide" between them. There was no table in the room and only one counter that was 18 inches wide. There was no "kitchen." The shower did not drain well. The shower head was actually less than six feet high. I am six feet tall, so I had to duck to wash my hair because the water wouldn't hit the top of my head. I do not feel the room was worth the price we paid. I was on the second floor and there were huge palm trees right in front of the balcony that blocked our view of the ocean. So much for ocean front... Be aware before booking here. This was our first and last stay.

My husband and I stayed in June with 3 adult "kids" in their 20's. Fantastic location and away from the downtown area where it's so congested and rather "touristy." The rooms were cleaner then my own home, and I'm a neat freak! Close to everything, the ocean views were incredible, the pools were a blast! Lazy river was even fun for our adult kids. Only complaint would be the food services as other reviews mentioned. Also, the Tiki Hut Bar got low marks from our kids. They said the wait was too long, the drinks watered down and even the blender broke so they couldn't get the "island" drinks they wanted. That is the only reason I didn't mark this resort a ten! I've seen previous mentions of the parking. It wasn't that bad, just be careful parking and while driving in the garage!
Lots to do around town and all close by. Definitely take in a Pelican's baseball game, which is only a few miles away. We had a blast and saw them win, too!
We have traveled over 23 states and 6 islands to have this vacation to have ranked in our top 5! That says something!!

I just loved staying here on the ocean, the room and services were very wonderful. I didnt give it a ten because I would have preferred to have had a buffet meal, at least breakfast. There was only cook to order menus. We never ate there but instead dined out or cooked in the apartment. The pools and hot tubs were very nice also, especially the lazy river. I would stay again, just wish they would do something about their food services. I couldn't even get any ice cream there and the dining room never opened until 5:00 pm.

We stayed over Xmas and we loved it. There were fantastic ocean views from our one bedroom condo. We hated to leave.
Their staff is wonderful. Breakfast on the ocean was wonderful and the evening dining presentation and food were 5 star. We can't wait to go back, and we will return. We have visited Myrtle Beach five times from Napa, Ca. and this was by far our very best experience.
