I live and work on the island but my girlfriend doesn't, which makes for a frustrating situation. However, it does allow for frequent romantic "getaways." As I haven't gotten a real paycheck yet, we were doing things cheaply, so we had a pizza at Goodfellows(great pizza), and went to the nice restaurant for dessert. It was a chilly tuesday, so the waterfront patio wasn't open, but we were seated immediately in the dining room. Despite knowing that we were only spending $10, the service was beyond excellent, the dining room was beautiful, and the dessert enjoyable. I've had better desserts, but the service and atmosphere were exemplary, and we will be going back once I get some real money. I wish I had taken note of the server's name, he was very good at his job. I tipped 25%, and would have tipped more if I had more cash on me. Even if they served hotdogs and chips, the Carriage house is worth a visit.

It's beautiful inside and out;my family really liked the fact the food is just like home cooking...a little pricey for something out of a can,but overall good solid mid-Michigan grub.Like you'd get at the Elk's Club,or a biker bar.All...
The hotel itself is a thing of beauty, service was excellent, food was O.K..The dining room has an awesome view,(fuul moonrise over the lake),more than enough compensation for mediocre cuisine.Stick with the appetizers;you won't pay as much for...
The Iroquois is only 5 hours from our home yet it is such a magical place we feel like we are in a different world. For me it is a place of renewing, refreshing, and healing from all the stress of everyday life.
