Welcome to the Iron Horse Inn of Durango, Colorado, where every room is a bi-level suite. A great location, friendly and knowledgable staff, and comfortable, affordable accommodations, makes this a great value that you will not want to miss while in Durango. We include a free continental breakfast for guests. Relax in the large indoor heated pool, hot tub, or sauna, all of which are open from 10am to 10pm daily. The patio, just outside the pool, is a great place to get some sun and spend time with family and friends. Also available for your use are exercise facilities, game room for kids and barbecue picnic area. Located only 5 minutes from historic downtown Durango and 30 minutes from Purgatory Mountain at Durango Mountain Resort, we offer the perfect mix between ease of access to downtown Durango and easy travel to the resort area. The city trolley stops in front of our lobby on a regular basis and travels the entire length of Main Avenue. It is an economical and fun way to get downtown to explore the wonderful heritage of Durango.

I should have known from the surly front desk person who checked us in and all the nasty ones who followed, this must not be a good place to be... either to work or to stay. There was a strange leakage in the floor. There was a fight that started in the parking lot a 3am complete with the sounds of fists hitting flesh, then doors slamming and bodies hitting walls. While I was trying to use the lobby computer (which never did work), a woman came in and had lost money in 3 of the 3 pop machines. Another asked for towels for the pool, but they were out. The location is inconvenient--neither close to the resort nor close to town. To top it off, there was a mysterious charge on my credit card when I got home from my vacation which has yet to be credited. It's inexpensive but it's not worth it.

The room was clean, but way out dated. We had a two bed suite (if you can call it a suite). It was very crowded and only had 2 kitchen-type chairs to sit in(there were 3 of us). Also, who ever had the idea that a flat pillow and hard bed makes for restful sleep.

Horrible
We arrived in town without making reservations and after calling several places finally found an opening at the Iron Horse Inn. From now on I will definitely be checking reviews and making reservations. The first room we checked into smelled like...

Good
Have stayed at Iron Horse before and wouldn't mind staying again. This is not a luxury hotel by far, but clean and comfortable, much more affordable than staying at the mountain resorts.

Okay
This hotel has a lot of potential for families, but needs some serious updating. All the plumbing leaked and the carpet was filthy! The bill was also confusing.

Good
We have stayed in this hotel a number of times. It is a moderate place to stay with private fireplaces and the narrow gauge train running daily near the property. It is a privately owned hotel, so discounts are not the norm. I recommend it if you'd...

This is a great place to stay for a family, they have plenty of room and privacy for all. I cant wait to return! Our only complaint: too much chlorine in the pool, it caused our kids to have a rash.

Horrible
The Iron Horse cancelled one reservation and changed another reservation (room type and rate) despite our written confirmation; when we complained they cancelled all of our reservations saying they reserved the right to refuse service to anyone. ...
It finally happened to me - I was snowed by doctored up pictures on the internet! Imagine my surprise when I actually pulled into the Ironhorse Inn and saw that it was the sort of place I hadn't stayed since college when I couldn't afford...
